I am absolutely not religious, but I loved your story. It is nice to hear such devotion between two young people. I am a 77 year old widower who met his German wife in July, married her on the following Christmas Eve in the military Chapel. Our marriage lasted 49 years, til "death did us part". Sometimes you just know in a very short time that there is something special about a person.

God's timing is everything. Some people are meant to move quickly, others are meant to move at a crawling space. No matter what, every moment together is sacred, because every moment draws you closer to Christ, to each other, and to what the Lord has in store for your relationship. This is the impression on my heart as I watch this video. It has truly healed and educated me about my own relationship, and all the little blessings that brought us together. This gave me so much hope! I’m 19 and have never been in a relationship but that is something that I have desired for a long time. The one thing that really hit me is how Kyle looks at those invasive fearful thoughts that could often stop you from what God has destined for you. LIES! I have thoughts like that all the time, and they block me from hearing God because He is forever speaking to me. And it's not just random thoughts because thoughts that bring nasty fear are often times not from God. Because God would clearly speak to you. So thank you Kyle for giving us insight into those little thoughts. And as I'm watching this video I just keep hearing God say, "You found your answer". Y'all are AMAZING! Oh and one more thing, the fact that your faith is not an add on but it's who you are. That's what I aspire to be like.

Dating culture today tells you that you need to date many ppl at the same time before you choose one person and that you've gotta date for at least 2 years+ before you decide that you'd like to marry someone-even that you've got to try out sex with that person first and see if you guys are compatible in the bedroom. Pausing in the middle of watching this to say: I met someone at church a couple years ago now who comes to the same community group as me, and if I’m super honest I FELLLL HARDDD for him, but not in the way I’ve noticed that I’ve crushed on guys in the past. It was because he literally checked everything off on “my list,” too. And while I was really dwelling for a while on what I thought I wanted to come out of that friendship (i.e. I was extremely convinced I would date this boy), I’ve come to realize, like you Kian, that I’m just super grateful to be able to call him a friend and see a man of his caliber and character who cares so deeply about loving the Lord and His Word. His faith truly encourages me and makes me want to seek Christ more for myself. He’s a great example of seeking out accountability and discipleship within the church and of being a disciple. And I think that’s worth noting! Even if I don’t date him, there’s so much value even in those friendships. Y’all’s story is so sweet and it’s so encouraging for me to hear!! He dates someone else, and I've found that as time has passed I have learned how to be happy for him and to just be grateful for what I have, because my expectations will fall short in a lot of ways throughout life (and deep honesty, I still have things to work through with it all). And I think that's okay. :) I think it's okay if things don't turn out how I always hope they will, because the Lord's ways are truly higher than mine, and I have to hold onto that.

I fell in love on a cruise ship as well.. Got up really early and was only half awake when I got my breakfast. I asked to sit at a table with an older lady because there were seats open and she said sure. Then moments later the most beautiful young lady I've ever seen sat down right in front of me and I thought I was dreaming. We talked briefly and then she got up and left the room... and my heart was racing. I quickly finished my food and got up and started searching the ship for her... but I realized, I was so panicked by what had just happened that my memory of what she looked like was hazy... I searched each floor of the ship multiple times, unable to find her.. and then I walked out the back door to a balcony and she was right there with her family. I panicked and turned right around and went back inside... and then stopped, took a breath and went back out and just hung out at the edge of the balcony to make sure it was actually her lol Aaaanyhow, everything seemed perfect. We INSTANTLY hit it off. Everything clicked. We talked for 6 hours straight. We hung out every day on the ship, often at "our spot", that one area we met on the balcony. She is German and we talked a bit about faith and when we went to a church for a concert off the boat, she got really teary and said "something happened in there and I really want to get back to following God". Before we had both even gotten back home, we had already skyped eachother multiple times.. Once home, she commonly set her alarm for the middle of the night, 1 in the morning.. so she could talk to me when I was home from work. She was so incredibly thoughtful and caring.. Fast forward, I quit my job and went to Germany (Berlin to be specific) from the US and we had an amazing time for months and we went to a church there on Sundays. There were a couple things with the church that were a bit weird in their doctrine, but it was a good experience and we talked about it. We visited her parents whom I had met on the ship and they loved me. We certainly had struggles with not having physical affection with me not being at the only home I've ever known and being with a young lady who I love dearly and Europeans tend to be a lot more... open about sexuality as it were as opposed to the US where we are conservative about sexuality, but more open about seeing physical violence... I went home to the US and she then came here for a bit over a month... and that's where we realized we really don't believe the same thing. She would say "I'm a Christian"... but she wasn't.. A lot of her time spent here was talking about faith. She talked with my mom without me many nights when she had questions and we stayed up many times just discussing topics and she'd get frustrated and we'd just hug and say "we'll figure it out". When she went back to Germany, I thought she was understanding what it really meant to be a Christian and I tried to help her find a good church, but she didn't want to.. within a week, she was falling apart and becoming depressed that we weren't together and a hatred for religion/Christianity/God only grew from there... She really tried... She read through like 8 books of the bible in just a few days. She really wanted to understand... but she also just really wanted to be with me and I hadn't asked her to stay in the US cause we can't be unequally yoked believer and non-believer.. She doesn't believe in what the Bible says. "It's just written by man to control man" She's more.. spiritual.. and believes God is like energy and is in everything and is everything... This is when I realized the Evangelical church is really strange in Germany... or what I found... She went to an "Evangelisch Monastery" to try and find herself and figure things out... and in this place they emphasized "sacred symbols" from religions to "enhance your spirituality".. They only read the book of Psalms, while holding yoga, meditation and reading teachings from the Quran... at this Evangelical place... "All paths lead to God"..... This is common over there in the church =/ Many "churches" don't even talk about Jesus there.... Anyhow.. now its been 3 more years... we're no longer in a relationship, yet we've still communicated back and forth a lot, but a whole lot of depression has existed with both of us. We both will still openly admit we love the other... but she's not actually a Christian.. She considered herself a Christian and people over there would call her beliefs "Christian" I guess... but she just doesn't see things in a Biblical way and conversations commonly now will go to "I love you, but this is never going to work. I can't believe what you believe". It's extremely painful to my soul... and my faith... and everything really... Sorry for the ramble, but I wish people would pray for me and her. I'm not even asking for a relationship in my prayers anymore... I just want the best for her. I want us both to see Christ in a deep way..
