"Oh, and Pringles!" LOL 😂 What happened to the right arm of your sunglasses? 😎 Yay for sharks. Instagram versus reality bit was so funny because it's so true! Sunsets are always better over water. Lewis sat on my sunglasses (by accident of course) when we were in the Caribbean last year. We thought we were being smart when we soldered the arm back on to fix it (the arm is snapped just beside the screw) but as soon as I put them on my head after getting off the plane, the solder broke! I think I'm just going to buy a new sunglass arm now!

I’m glad you got to go…what an awesome experience!

Yep! I hate the feeling when I forget to do a room tour and mess up the bed or something 😂 The guy who showed us around told us that the place was so empty compared to usual that it was like a private island. Hello, I'm looking to go to the Maldives from 18th December until the new year and was wondering what the weather was like while you was there? I assume you was there around the same time so would love to get an idea. I am looking to stay at Baros for a few days as well.
@EllaMcKendrick3 жыл бұрын
I went at the start of December and the weather was great. There were short bursts of rain maybe once per day but they only lasted a few minutes and the sky would clear up again. It was really nice and hot too. Everything I've seen online said December is a great month to visit weather-wise. This website actually tells you exactly what the weather was like in December last year day by day so is really handy: www.holiday-weather.com/maldives/averages/december/ I would definitely recommend Baros! It was heavenly and I would go back in a heartbeat :) I hope you enjoy your trip!

Thanks for watching! The food was delicious but I did find it quite pricey. The high prices are to be expected as most food is imported to the country. The resort actually has its menus on the website including prices so you can see exactly how much everything costs as what is expensive for me may not be for you, haha. Hi Ella, I am writing from Austin, TX. Was the actual experience as blissful as it appears on video? How would you compare the Maldives experience with the Caribbean? If heaven did exist, I imagine it would be something like the Maldives- only free of cost!. Thank you for documenting your experience. Cheers!
@EllaMcKendrick3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the experience really was this blissful! Maldives is very different to any experience I've had in the Caribbean. There's probably a number of factors that comes down to. Firstly, the resort I chose in Maldives exceeded expectations and secondly, well, we had a private island essentially! I love the Caribbean for jungles, hikes, culture and small, independent restaurants, which you don't get at private resorts in Maldives. Each place has their pros, I suppose! I also think heaven would look like this. I frequently commented to my fiancé when we were there that we must have died or something to end up in a place like this 😂 Thanks for watching!
@rachnaniranjanphotography2 жыл бұрын
of all the videos i saw of baros, yours was the only one which gave me a good idea of the underwater experience here. we plan to travel to baros soon.. we can't swim to save our lives. do you think snorkeling or even getting glimpses of some beautiful fishes is possible here for non swimmers? :)
@EllaMcKendrick2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you found it useful! You can absolutely try snorkeling in Baros as a non-swimmer. When you arrive and have settled into your room, you can visit the 'Marine Center' and let them know that you are non-swimmers who would like to try snorkeling. They can arrange for you to go out with an instructor who will teach you the basics of snorkeling. Life jackets, fins and snorkels are also provided. I watched an instructor take a non-swimming couple snorkeling. The beach starts off really shallow so it's a great place to get used to the water. There are also some segments of reef within this really shallow area so you can see some beautiful fish without venturing too far. The couple then ventured out onto the house reef with the instructor (which is just beyond the walls you can see in the ocean) and it looked like they were having a great time. The staff at Baros really are wonderful and helpful. I have no doubts you will have an incredible time!

Hi! just wondering what month you visited Maldives, was this during December? Also I assume you would still need to wear the mask in the resort's common places right? We really would like to go but we are abit hesitant with all this Covid madness 😒
@EllaMcKendrick4 жыл бұрын
I visited in late November / early December. The resort’s restaurants are all outdoors and there was no mask requirement at the time. The occupancy at the resort was very little so we were always one of very few people dining and were highly spaced out. There are no other real communal areas. I was really worried about traveling during COVID but am really glad I bit the bullet as the flying was very smooth and the resort felt like a COVID-free zone. But it’s good to remember that there’s a lot more factors to consider when traveling now so my best advice would be to weigh everything up to see if it’s right for you :) Where are you based? I wanted to travel early this year but cases have exploded here in the UK so I’m having to put the idea on ice. Times really are unpredictable!
@ElaineandGabriel4 жыл бұрын
@@EllaMcKendrick Hi, thanks for the reply :) .. yes things have certainly changed. I was reading they would also require a negative test result upon entry in the Maldives. We are from Malta. We are also alittle worried about returning to travel but as you said, I think the resort kind of seems in its own bubble unlike a holiday in a city for example, which would feel more risky to Covid. Thanks for your feedback. Enjoyed watching some of your other vlogs too :) Do feel free to check out our channel too 😉
