While we were editing this, we found the video that ATARASHII GAKKO! did with Captain Disillusion (which is great, by the way, you should go watch it) and in that video they said the are all group leaders (probably hence the name) so we might have gotten that wrong lol. Not really. The name translates as "Leaders of the New School", which, given their appreciation of hip-hop and goofiness, was likely inspired by Busta Rhymes' 1980's group of that name. "No" just means "of" in Japanese. They do love wordplay, though, so I doubt they're troubled by the cross-language confusion. I'm not quite sure why anyone would review an Atarashii Gakko! album strictly as an audio artifact. They call themselves a "dance/vocal unit", and really, it's the dancing, the videos, the live performances and their personalities that really make them so engaging.

I adore this group so much❗️ I got introduced to this band through IG reels with 'tokyo calling'. I liked it, so I decided to listen to a few other of their songs I enjoyed the songs but I didnt become a fan. A week later I found that they were about to start their world tour and they were coming to my city, I really wanted to go to a concert so I very impulsively bought tickets(keep in mind I had only listened to like 3 of their songs😹). For the next couple of months I "forced" myself to become the biggest fan, luckily for me I absolutely fell in love with the group and I had the best time at their concert🎉 Fun facts about this album, half of these songs debutted in coachella. The setlist for their world tour mostly had songs from this album, eventhough the album didnt release until they were halfway done with the world tour pt.1(interesting choice if you ask me). This is a very different album and music from all of their other stuff, I think this album was made to be pretty repetitive with easy to say jp words and/or english words so the people at their concerts could sing along because a lot of their audience does not speak jp(ex. 'Tokyo calling🎵', 'essa hoisa🎵', 'fly high🎵', 'toryanse🎵'). Also justice for hero show, I think they were going for a michael jacksonesque sound and I love it🧟‍♀️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♀️🧟‍♂️ Also Also yall should review the band 0.8syoogeki and their album 'oriental techno' it is a punk with electronica/techno and a bit of pop

Thanks so much for checking out our review! I’m hoping I can force Jenna to become a bigger fan of them as well 😅 Since recording this review I’ve been playing the album as much as I can. (I also saw that they have a really cool blue marble printed vinyl of this album which is a tempting purchase.) That’s actually really interesting that half of the album was debuted at Coachella. I have a soft spot for albums that are written for tours since they are usually made with a direct connection with the audience in mind. Basically it’s fun knowing that the artist was like “this one is going to be so fun to sing with the fans!” We’ll definitely check out that album, it sounds like it will be right down our alley!Thank you for the recommendation!! -Sean

With AG! the choreography is very important - I think of them as a dance group that happens to sing. They often write the song lyrics and work with producers on the music. Their collaborators include Money Mark and another Asobisystem artist called Yonkey. Their live performances are really great and songs like Omakase, Arigato and Essa Hoisa come to life with the dancing. I actually prefer their earlier jazz influenced songs. They definitely don't consider themselves an idol or straight J-pop group and their agency seems to give them a lot of artistic freedom. The front woman on stage is definitely Suzuka because of her strong voice and even stronger personality, but AG! are quick to declare that they have no leader and they all work on the choreography and developing the shows together.

Do see them live, with a caveat. I have seen them live twice, and any other band or group I've seen since then have just not gotten anywhere close to matching their energy. So be prepared to set your standards lower for other concerts.
