Hey Huckberry, I have that same Filson duffle at 3:58 and it is made in Vietnam, not the USA. So no, no cherry on top!

Hey Tony, we got our wires crossed on this one. Thanks for calling this out. You're right, this Filson is not made in USA. Apologies for any confusion!

great video and since you mention the Patagonia MLC, the MLC 30 is great as well for many of the same reasons! And, it can fit under seat!

I'm always inbetween my Waymark Mile 28L, and my Grey Ghost Gypsy ruck. If I could choose, it would be the Grey Ghost Gypsy, Just for the fact that it looks like a classic heritage rucksack instead of a hiking bag but with the modern accouterments of molle webbing and attachments everywhere. I have it rigged up perfectly. It blends in both as a city slicking bag, but also wild camping. The only problem is that it's so heavy compared to my Waymark Mile 28, which just glides with me everywhere I go and is completely waterproof. I have yet to find a single company that has blended a top lidded heritage rucksack look, with space age ultralight material such as Xpac and Ecopac Ultra 200/400. All of them use the standard roll top design. The closest thing would be my Mystery Ranch In and Out 22L, but the material and construction just would not hold up to heavy use for a frequent traveler like me.

Thanks for the video. Is that the hyperlite 22 or one of the larger ones? It looks like you were able to carry on pretty easily. Looking for something i can travel with for weeks at a time but still roll down and use it as a day bag for hiking or exploring cities etc

I was one of the first people to own a GR1 in dyneema. It was a terrible disappointment. It kept pulling apart at the seams -- a common problem with dyneema that Outlier, another brand, that pioneered the mainstream use of this material also confessed to and so jumped to other materials. The original GR1 and a bunch of what Goruck does is, while well intentioned, is misplaced in the modern world. The originals are far too heavy for the sort of convenient light travel the average citizen does. It is, after all, designed initially for medics in war zones. Accordingly, most of the GR1 fanatics (and I was one who owned multiple of them) are folks who have an urban fantasy about military gear. I actually worked in war zones for years, so these bags were tough enough to withstand all terrains when all terrain literally meant conflict zones. But the original GR1 bags served that purpose. Dyneema, however, typically used for a decade by the Ultralight hiking community for through hiking, has no place with a backpack designed as if to withstand a tank and so cannot withstand heavy loads. Ditch this dyneema version and buy an original GR1 if you carrying heavy loads or going to war zones, but barring that there is no need.

baffles me why most brands put so much thought into sectioning the bag with an admin section, waste of space in my opinion. I'm carrying pens or a laptop around on a holiday
