That is one nice chipper and a necessity around the farm or homestead. Keep it safe those things can be very dangerous. Watch about loose clothes or anything that has loops or anything that limbs can catch. They have been many people pulled into these machines as the limbs are being pulled in.

Love your channel! How interesting that you put out this video! Just this week my wife and I started chipping a big brush pile on our place, as we wanted the chips for the trails we have. We have the Woodland Mills WC68 6" with the hydraulic feed. I am glad we got that option, as it makes it nice to put in the limbs and small trees and then go get the next piece while the chipper feeds itself. Don't feel too bad about shearing your pin. My tractor, New Holland TC48DA, has a hydraulic clutch, so if we feed too big a piece of wood, it can get jammed. We have learned to stand next to the feed reverse switch before the flywheel stops completely.

Suggest to them to include a spot on the back of the chipper to tow a trailer as it will let you tow a trailer to spray the chips into then tow it back to a useful place to dump. Just a bar between the rails would work for a spot to put a tow hook/pin/ball. The other one would be spots for carriage bolts in the discharge to hook pipe onto for directing into smaller places like trash cans to fill with wood chips. puts the least disruption into the path of the chips yet still gives you a secure way to bolt on when needed.

Nice video. Be careful with smaller diameter stuff that isn't dried out. I have a flywheel type chipper that's powered by a 6.5 hp Briggs and on several occasions I've had pieces of green branches wrap themselves around the shaft between the flywheel and the bearing and it will put enough drag to stop the engine. It's a royal pain to get that stuff unwrapped. Now I avoid chipping anything under 1/2 inch -- those go into an oldie but goodie 90s era Bolens chipper shredder that has the flail drum and it never gets hung up.

i don't know about that one. I think I would want to pay for feed wheels, reverse and definitely a safety cut off switch if I was doing big stuff. I guess if all I was doing was saplings it would be great.

So you would need to double the price, it’s a low cost consumer chipper only from China via Alibaba, bearcat/woods 5000 with a blower is a better design, screens , self feeds, can shred leaves and twigs, I use mine to process corn and soy feed

Woodland Mills chipper is light years ahead. It has a hydraulically powered feeding mechanism that pulls material into the chipper. This one doesn’t. It only works on perfectly straight branches which are pulled in when the blades hit them due to the way blades are angled. Any curved or forked branches will need a lot of effort from the operator. You have to stand there and try to bend the branches and push them in. A more advanced chipper like Woodland Mills does this job for you. All you have to do is bring more branches and try to keep up with it. The work goes much faster.

Looks good but there's a few machine issues:How hard your dad was pushing to get that green sapling to feed into the shoot should have been more than enough to get that caught. It then jerked in, taking his hand with it before he let go. This thing is gonna "cut the limbs" off of tree's, yes, but trust me on the fact that it should do that to an unsuspecting person also.

As someone who is in the market for a pto wood chipper, I was considering this one from Titan. However, watching this 6" chipper kill your tractor and sheer a pin on 5 1/2" softwood, I am inclined to pass. I think more adjustablity in the chipper itself, like hydraulic feed rollers and anvil adjustments, could greatly improve the function of a wood chipper. The way it was tossing you around too...? IDK. I have several large piles of slash that I would rather chip than burn. Much of the slash is 5" and smaller. This simply would not work. I think I need to spend the money on a better, more feature rich, chipper and get the job done than replace sheer pins every few minutes. But thank you for making this video!

There some learning curves for sure. I think I could use one where I go mining at. that whole trail is limbs and junk, just back my way in and then have clean wood chips for the smoker too. The way it pulled them in, why cut it down, just put the top in and let it chew is way through and pull the tree out by the roots... Okay, I jokes, but if it were only true I could make a interstate out of that trail and the beavers lunch pail would be full. It was a old road and must of it is alder about three to maybe some would be six inch but far and few as it kinda just got started butin few years will be trees. It sure don't take mother nature to take back what it wants. I liked the look you got on your face like well Troy, you did it on youtube again look/LOL. We have almost the same machine in the wallenstein b62. I’ve found our Tractor is the weakest link, not the chipper. We have a Deere 4310 with 28hp at the pto. What hp does your tractor have?

what If you load the narrow end first? - on the logs with no branches obviously - so you Don’t get that initial jarring action. It looked like it was ripping the branch out of your hand and the machine shook quite a bit. Maybe the thinner end won’t be so violent on the machine and when it reaches the thicker end, it’s momentum (so to speak) will smooth out that initial jerking action. Just a thought. However, I am usually wrong about everything I do, which is pointed out to me all too often, so maybe just disregard this comment. Awesome vid as always brother!

I've got the same chipper with a Wallenstein brand. It's a good chipper for occasional use. Doesn't like small, springy twigs as they will get clogged up in the chute. Anything larger than 4" I cut up for firewood. As you can see, large stuff puts too much strain on the tractor and repairing PTO's are expensive. Fairly certain Wallenstein offers a hydraulic feed for that unit. If I had to do it over, I would not have purchased a 3pt chipper and gone with a self-contained unit such as the Vermeer BC 600/700 series.

Seems like a lot of angry folks responding. I can see some inherent danger with it, but true of most industrial equipment. I just purchased the 42 version for 55% of the lowest price found. As new, guy moved from urban to rural and decided to burn everything. I do like my leather gloves, so I will need to be extra cautious. 540 RPM means 540 RPM!

If you are going to get a Chipper you have to have a hydraulic feed. There is no comparison in performance. chipper with no hydraulic feed is the fastest way to damage your hands with all the shaking Carpel Tunnel

A few questions. What is the recommended horsepower rating and rpm for that model? Does Titan offer an auto feeder for that model? And lastly, why are you paying a fiddler to stand by the camera playing music while you do the work??

Up to 60 HP. My tractor is a 35 hp. I bet 45 or 55 would be the sweat spot. I don't think they have a hydraulic feed option for the PTO style. That is my neighbor. Doesn't work much but man he can play :)

Red Tool House - Homestead Not sure about your tractor, but mine has to be running at 2,650 engine RPM to achieve 540 PTO RPM. Kioti LK3054 My tractor does have 2 PTO speeds, however, I haven’t had an implement that calls for 1,000, so I’ve never fiddled with it. Are you running enough engine RPM, in the 540 PTO range? Would it load up the same way? I’m shopping for a PTO chipper, and this is one I’ve been looking at.

Don’t shut down an engine at high idle. The oil needs time to cool everything down enough properly as opposed to letting it sit hot and not running, especially the turbo. I think 15 seconds at low idle should be plenty for a small tractor engine.

Taking out the sheer pin on a 5 1/2 inch piece of wood doesnt exactly inspire confidence in the chipper rated for 6 inch material. I seen you bump the RPM up pretty high before you tried it the 2nd time as well. IDK maybe its just me on this one.

@@RedToolHouse a machine designed to run at 540 pto rpm should be run at 540 pto rpm, not above or below. Otherwise you have every kind of malfunction and safety issue possible. Talk to an engineer...Most tractors have a mark on the tach at 540 pto rpm. (labeled "pto" or a solid circle, or a gear symbol, or sumpin')
