I always find a humorous an interesting when you introduced the new birds they act like they’re in high school all stuck up and weird and then they get used to each other. It’s a good laugh. !!!

Dandelions are beneficial for feeding bees and airating soil as well as many health benifits, they are not stupid. Love your chickens.

Yup dandelions are apparently very good for them. Thanks we love them as well. Appreciate the comment!

Terry from Kentucky:: Are you gonna hatch out the Black Copper Maran eggs.From what I have heard,the eggs are expensive to buy.You have some really pretty chickens.First time viewing your video.

Sorry for the delay, I have been busy with my business and away from home. In terms of the black copper Maran hatching. We are thinking about it but we find they don't lay great in winter so we will keep what we have and may bread another type of bird that lays better in winter. Maran hatching eggs can fetch a decent price here as well. But with the longer winters they may not work out great for that here. Thanks for the comments on the chickens, thanks so much for taking the time to comment!

@@hagonshomestead We have been talking about it for years but decided now was the time to no longer put it off. Ready for the work and looking to make it simple as possible. Loads of research from those that came before me. Thanks for doing the video’s.

@@heatherc2 For now is a good time. It was more of a learning curve than we expected. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Thanks for watching!

You folks have a great flock. May I ask what breeds you have and where you purchase your chicks from? Thanks. Kevin
@hagonshomestead8 ай бұрын
So sorry for the delay. We the same ones you saw on the video and we also have Brahmas which are not in the video, you can see a separate video we did on them in our collection. We buy locally, we have purchased from hatcheries here but have a VERY bad experience TWICE! So we only buy from locals or small breeders now.

Hi, beautiful flock! Can you tell me what breed Sly is (rooster) he’s beautiful!
@hagonshomestead4 ай бұрын
Sorry for the delay, to be honest I am not sure, we got him from a guy rehoming him because the other roosters were chasing him off when he as young and he was not happy and kept escaping his enclosure. He is a great rooster.

What kind are the little ones? Cute!

We want to know ourselves. They are awesome but the person we got them from just said jungle fowl and that doesn’t mean anything. Ha ha

@@hagonshomestead They look like sebrights to me but I'm not sure 😊
@hagonshomestead Жыл бұрын
I do wonder if they are a mix of sebrights and something else. I really want to find out. If I ever find more we will get them. They are awesome.

@@hagonshomestead Your little hens kind of remind me of a pair of Old English Game Hens I had gotten from a 4H girl a few years back. Same willingness to stand up to bigger hens, too! One of my little girls was at the top of the pecking order after the old top girl (a much bigger hen) passed away.

What are the things on their backs?
@hagonshomestead8 ай бұрын
I forget the name but that’s to help them grow their feathers back if they lost them on their back. I have mixed feelings about them but they help keep them warm in winter if their feathers are in the process of growing back.

Blue ears = blue eggs.
@hagonshomestead Жыл бұрын
I wish that was the case. But we have a few birds but they don’t lay blue eggs.
@dannyanderson3359 Жыл бұрын
Hope you're not planning to hatch a bunch of eggs out of this flock with only one roaster
@hagonshomestead Жыл бұрын
Yes we do and the fertilization rates are very good. One rooster can usually fertilize 15-20 hens no problem
@retaosooo3091 Жыл бұрын
That's what you call free range 😅😂

If you want to be technical it is. If we let them run around without protection they would all be dead. I would rather keep them alive thanks.

You don’t put new chickens like this they have to be introduced in a cage big big cage I mean in a save place and the flock can see them slowly accepting the new one…
@hagonshomestead5 ай бұрын
Hi, why not? We have hundreds of chickens and not one has ever been injured or rejected and have all been introduced that way. Besides roosters there is no reason to worry.
@MrCard0315842 ай бұрын
If an ameraucana lays green, it's not an ameraucana, it's an Easter egger or olive egger. All pure bred ameraucanas lay blue eggs only.
@hagonshomestead2 ай бұрын
I don’t remember what was said in the video but we have both Easter egger and Americana’s in that coop.
