Congratulations on you new found love! Look forward to seeing how this turns out for y’all. I’m sure you know this already but there is a huge community surrounding these. We love our 77 and get to enjoy it every so often. You seem to be half way there with the running and driving part. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the adventure your about to embark upon.

They are very easy to drive, handle very much like an oversized van. The support community for these is phenomenal.

I have one of these GMC motorhomes. It’s good advice when you travel touch your wheels especially the front wheels to make sure they are not getting hot wheel. Bearings tend to heat up.

That's a Toronado engine. My mother had a '72 Olds Toronado, and my brother had a '71 Olds 98, both with the 455 of course. I recognize that lovely blub, blub, blub big block old '70's cammed sound. Good memories. I saw another KZbinr start up his son's GMC motorhome after it had been sitting for 15 years. It turned right over and was running after a couple of tries. I cried just like I did when I first saw Secretariat win the Belmont by 31 lengths.

@AnAmericanCouple we just bought a 73 Banner , if you have any tips or tricks, especially where to find parts, that would be amazing. I'm already looking for the front to emblem as it says Ban instead of Banner at the moment. We just bought our first project literally a day before hubby lost his job. We just got it delivered here today after digging it out where it was. This is our first try at this, we were told it's a good model to start with.

The GMC Motorhome is a very different animal. Shell is fiberglass inside frame is aluminum and it front wheel drive. We have gutted ours to the walls and are rebuilding it to a more modern vehicle. I had never even heard of a Banner, I had to look it up. Happy renovating, Glenn

We are wanting to really change the inside and put almost 4000 watts of solar on top. Going with a mini split A/C on the rear bumper, right now it’s still in the planning stage. See you on the road Glenn and Jane

You’re correct for some reason I thought the El Dorado was made by Cadillac my mistake
@christodarsch95442 жыл бұрын
Olds 455 from Toronado/Eldorado. Nobody knows how many are still on the road, but 9,000 is way too high. Probably more like 4,000. I have a 77.
@AnAmericanCouple2 жыл бұрын
I did some quick math that was obviously wrong from the three registry site that tracks them New to this…. I thought the El Dorado was a Cadillac my bad.
@christodarsch95442 жыл бұрын
@@AnAmericanCouple The registry has accounted for about 9k in any condition, only a subset are on the road. Eldorado is indeed a Cadillac, but it used the unified power package (front wheel drive powertrain) from Olds.
@jeffshadow24072 жыл бұрын
Oldsmobile had the 455 V8, Cadillac had the 472 in this model year. All GMC Motorhomes had the Oldsmobile 455 or 403, starting in January 1977. The Buick Riviera became FWD in 1979, not 1973.
