SURPRISE!!!!! In celebration of our ONE YEAR wedding anniversary this month, Emma and I have decided to share our full ceremony video with you all. 🤍👰🏻‍♀️👰🏼‍♀️🏳️‍🌈
In this video, you'll see us walk down the aisle, hear my brother's officiant speech, hear our personal vows we wrote for each other, and every other detail in between!
I want to first give the BIGGEST THANK YOU to our incredible photo/video team @samandsolastudio for capturing this beautiful footage of our wedding ceremony. They really went above and beyond to make sure to capture every moment / detail. We're SO grateful!!! 📸🎞️✨
Emma and I truly created our dream wedding together. That being said, I'm so thankful, above all else, for our parents. They wanted us to have the wedding of our dreams, and they truly made that happen for us. Without them, none of this would have been possible. So thank you to the four of you-- for the rest of our lives we will remember all that you sacrificed and gave for us to have this perfect day come to life. We love you.
The song we chose to walk down the aisle to, (which I removed from this video for copyright reasons), was a gorgeous instrumental saxophone cover of Elvis' Can't Help Falling in Love.
In addition, the beginning of this video has been trimmed down just a little bit for time's sake, but I did still want to show the footage Sam got of us walking down the aisle, which is what you'll see first in the video. Before we walked down though, we had my brother (the officiant) and his girlfriend, followed by Emma's sister and our (then) 3 y/o nephew (the ringbearer), followed by each of our grandparents (and emma's aunt, in honor of her grandmother), and then finally our bridesmaids. Then, as the video shows, Emma walked down the aisle first with her parents, and I followed down the aisle with mine.
This video is so special to us because our whole ceremony is just one big, emotional BLUR in our memories! I know everyone says that about their wedding, but I truly mean it! All of the nerves, pressure, anticipation, and whirlwind of emotions that took place during our ceremony make it really hard to remember all the little moments that took place, but watching this video back is our way to cherish those moments forever. ❤️
Having my brother officiate our wedding was the greatest decision we could've made. I love watching him make his perfectly-timed jokes, and seeing our families' reactions... priceless.
Something I love about our ceremony was how authentic and vulnerable our vows felt. Being a writer myself, I never shy away from vulnerability with my words, but it's a whole different ballgame when there's a crowd of over 200 people watching you! And as for Emma, I will forever be proud of her for writing and reading her vows during our ceremony! She's not the most outspoken person, but she knew it was important for me to do this in front of our loved ones, and she did such a perfect job. I'm so grateful she did that for me.
There's so much more I could say, but I'll just let the video do the rest of the work for me. What an unforgettable day. One year later, and I'm even more in love with my wife now than I was on our wedding day.

"You loved me long before I loved myself". I love that. I've always thought that you're supposed to love yourself before finding the one you're meant to be with...but, through watching this video, I've learned that loving yourself, just like loving your person, is a process. It doesn't happen overnight. To grow with your person, to learn to love not only your person, but also yourself, that's beautiful.
