When they've done this live they play a soundbite of a baby crying so I always interpreted their version as being more "Here comes the Son" in reference to the impending birth of the anti-christ which was the theme of their first album

Yeah, and live he also changed the lyrics to “He’s alright” at one moment 👶

I like the vampire idea. This song is included at the end of the Japanese deluxe edition of Opus Eponymous...right after the song Genesis. That album is a concept album about a cult preparing for the birth of the Antichrist (you may remember Ritual is on there). So this song is meant as "Here comes the son."...here comes the son of Satan. In the live performances, a baby cry can be heard at the end.

This may be the first Ghost song I ever heard. I had heard of them and seen pictures of the band so I knew their Anti-Pope routine and I assumed they were another growling death-metal band. After hearing this I checked out Square Hammer and was officially hooked.

Great work as usual, really enjoy your reactions! You guys need to check out ”Monstrance Clock” from the Infestissumam album. They used to end their shows with that song. It was such a good show-ender, I think you Will understand why when you hear it! Love from Linköping, the hometown of Ghost!

If you haven't heard Ghost's cover of Enter Sandman it's worth a listen. I almost like it more than the original. Tobias also did a cover of Sympathy for the Devil on Swedish TV (just as Papa IV with another band, not with Ghost) which was amazing. Sadly it's only available on youtube.

Sorry, but I thought this sucked. The son said that this had a total Beatle's vibe too it, not for me. Aside from the lyrics I thought that this was not a good interpretation of the song. Dad, you need to tell your son that he needs to put on some good headphones and listen to the 2019 50th anniversary remix of this song from "Abbey Road" it sounds incredible, what a beautiful uplifting George song. I've always felt that George was and probably still is the most under appreciated Beatle as a song writer singer and guitarist. On The Beatles first four albums his only contribution as a songwriter was from their second Lp "With The Beatles" with his song "Don't Bother Me". On their fifth Lp "Help" he arrived out of nowhere with "I Need You" which I really like and "You Like Me Too Much" which is very catchy. From this point on in 1965 his songs just kept getting better and better. On "Rubber Soul" (one of the greatest records ever that John called the pot album) his two songs "Think For Yourself" which Paul literally kills the fuzz bass on is a great track and "If I Needed Someone" with George playing lead rhythm guitar (Rickenbacker Fireglo 360/12 (capoed) in the Byrd's Roger McGuinn style is incredible. On their 1966 Lp "Revolver" which is possibly the greatest album ever (many music critics consider "Sgt Pepper's" as the greatest ever) I'm in the "Revolver" camp. Now if "Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane" were on Pepper like they were supposed to be I would hit it to "Sgt Pepper's" these were the first two songs that were recorded for what would become "Sgt Pepper's" When they recorded these two tracks "Sgt Pepper's" wasn't a concept yet. All they knew was that these were the first two songs for their next album. "Strawberry Fields Forever" alone took 55 hours to record which is a record to this day for a for a song. The studio technology wasn't there yet. The Beatles, their producer George Martin and the studio technician's had to invent it as they went along. Thankfully for us today, the EMI studios at Abbey Road had the best recording studios in the world. All of The Beatles recordings between late 1962-69 sound great. These two songs went out as a double A Side single and is regarded as the greatest single in history. Corporate greed was the cause for this. The Beatles hadn't released a single in a while 6 months so the powers that be began to pressure their manager Brian Epstein, their manager for a single so he in turn pressured Martin for a single. Martin didn't want to but eventually gave in. He stated in later years that in all the years he recorded The Beatles that this was the only regret he ever had by giving in and felt that it was a disservice too the band. Anyways on "Revolver" with George kicking off the album with "Taxman" Incredible track and his tracks (Love You Too) and "I Want To Tell You" (I love the story on this one) George had taken some LSD and went to a nightclub and approached a very attractive girl and got all tongue tied, he couldn't get the words out. Hilarious ! and a great track. Record by record from 65 on you can hear George's rapid growth. Even with all of the incredible Lennon/McCartney songs "Here Comes The Sun" may just be my favorite Beatles track, it's just so uplifting and beautiful. This is the most streamed Beatles on Spotify with approaching 300 million streams, so that should speak for something. This is for Dad, I like yourself am a Beatles nut. I was going on six when I saw them on the Ed Sullivan show on February 9th, 1964. They looked and sounded like aliens too me, I was blown away. When I found out that they were coming to Pittsburgh in September, 1964 at the Civic Arena. There were over 12,000 people there, most of them teenage girls and from the count in and first couple if notes the screams were deafening. They only had 25 watt amps back then and the technology just wasn't there to support a band like them yet. I was pissed off as I was all about the music, not 12,000 maniac girls screaming. Same as when I saw the movie "A Hard Day's Night" in 64 and "Help" in 65 it was the same deal, constant screaming. Young people today just can't comprehend "Beatlemania" and how out of control it was. Every concert they ever played they only played for 30 minutes because of the fear of the near riot conditions and the safety of the band and the fans, crazy stuff ! Last March ESPN aired the three night special Michael Jordan's "Last Dance" which was quite good about the Bulls 1998 season. There was a Chicago sports journalist who came on and said that young people today have to realize how big this guy was. He actually said "You have too understand, I traveled the entire 98 season with Michael, it was like traveling with The Beatles" What the Fu_k was this Bozo talking about? When The Beatles hit your city it was total chaos. Hotels didn't want them, it was bad for business and the entire business block that they were on often had to be shutdown because of the fans, they were bad for store and business offices. They had to start checking in under an assumed name like Mr John Smith, that's how crazy it was. Lennon stated that it was like being in the eye of a hurricane. "Anywhere we went you were surrounded by cops and it was calm in that circle but when you looked just a few feet outside of it, total craziness like a hurricane blowing". In 64 when they went to Australia, over 125,000 fans gathered outside if their hotel just to catch a glimpse of them stepping out onto to their balcony to wave to the fans. I still can't wrap my head around that one. Hey dad, I started collecting Beatles records in 1972, my freshman year in highschool. There was a bulletin board on the wall out side of the office for kids to post notes on like Wanted tires for this model car or whatever. I posted, Wanted too buy, Beatles records. I cleaned up, a lot of these kids had older siblings that had the original records. I've been collecting now in year 50.I have amassed an amazing collection including every 45rpm with picture sleeves, both Capital Ep's in the original cardstock picture sleeves and the one on VeeJay also. Also the Capitol juke box EP's in their cardstock picture sleeves and the little jukebox inserts. Every album on Capitol and Vee Jay labels. I have eight of the Vee Jay variations of "Introducing The Beatles" and also all of the Capitol, Vee Jay, Tollie, Swan, MGM and Atco radio station promotional 45 rpm records in NM condition. This stuff is extremely hard to find today, I purchased most of mine in the eighties when the prices weren't quite out of control yet. Dad will appreciate this, I have an original 1966 "Stereo" copy of "Yesterday And Today" Butcher Cover in like new condition, it's better then NM to my eyes with original plastic sleeve with a Sears price tag for $3.79 and from my understanding Sears pulled these from their shelves after one day which makes it even a better copy in my book. I purchased this one in 1988 at a Pittsburgh record shop for 2,000 dollars, when I showed my father this he asked me what the hell was wrong with me? My friends thought it was cool but thought that was a lot of money. I don't look too crazy now, do I? I also have nice first state Mono copy and a second state paste over Stereo copy in NM condition that I purchased at a flea market for 30.00 five years ago. I took a chance and just bought it, I didn't want to examine the cover in front of him in fear that he might wonder what I was looking at and it worked out. When I got home it was a Butcher under the paste over cover. Even if it wasn't the price of an original Trunk Cover far exceeds 30.00. This was the first Trunk Cover paste over Butcher cover I ever found in God only knows how many copies I looked at over nearly five decades. So don't give up, there are still some floating around out there. I didn't mean to rant here but hey, like dad there, I'm a Beatles fanatic. Collecting has been a very fun and rewarding hobby over the last 50 years. I have a fair amount of memorabilia but never really pursued it as it was all about the music for me. I hope your dad enjoyed my comments. ☮️✌️💕

@Lyn Ghost why I'm thinking like i do is because from a theoretical perspective it's mostly a direct translation from major to minor. It's super predictable, not very creative and it def doesn't hold up to the genius arrangement of the original. The minor mode takes away a lot of the beautiful melody range of the original. And the synth arrangement sounds way too basic. Def obvious It's an early Ghost cover listening to the production and arrangement.
