Sujy lost her dad in an accident when she was about 12 years old, and lost her grand dad who helped raising her about 2 years ago. So I think that's why she got emotional while I was reading your comments. She doesn't have much family left. She have a mom whose she's not close to, same with her brother , and a aunt, but the rest of her family are either dead or not in the picture at all. Well, she has me, but it's different from blood related. As for me, I haven't been in Canada since 2015, but I speak to my parents every week on video call. It's hard to explain, but sometimes, when you think about your parents and you know that they think about you, it's enough. Thank you for watching our video! :)

Both sets of my grandparents were Karelian evacuees. A multigenerational trauma that is, the pain of it still being carried by us grandchildren. Some of our Saami relatives lost their land as well with its sacred cultural sites. I do not know, but perhaps the Karelian band Nightwish - in empathy - created the song “Creek Mary's Blood”, because we all know within what the “Trail of Tears” was/is. Check that song out too if you haven’t already.

Please listen to Finlandia by Jean Sibelius and the version from Waltteri Torikka (opera singer) and Jarkko Ahola (metal singer). For me, this is the best sung version of this wonderful Finnish national song, and I wouldn't mind if this was changed to our official national anthem someday.
