We used a syringe and put apple sauce in it. We would give it to them randomly throughout the week. When they get comfortable with the apple sauce we would do the "old switch-a-ro" with the real stuff. Worked great!

I should call my Aunt and Uncle. They raised horses for about 35 years, not including ran a stable too. Watching you all and your family reminds me when I was a kid growing up around that lifestyle.

Even though I've done that a few times, it was suspenseful watching you. Haven't used commercial dewormers in many years. Don't even know how much they cost now. Have you heard of quassia? It does wonders for gut health. Looks real nice there, beautiful rolling hills. Cheers!

My guess is that sometime in the past Megan had at least one bad worming experience. It may take several patient sessions in the future before she gets used to it. Either that, or she just hates the taste and /or smell of the product. In that case maybe there are other brands/flavors to try out. As for the carrot. I was very worried for your fingers/hand during the carrot offer while she was a bit stressed. Next time you may want to allow for about an hour, in 15 minute sessions, with 15 minutes rest periods, using repeated turn arounds, in order to bore her into submission. ;-) Peace and Love, ct

@@offgridishliving I just watched a video on how to do it, looked very easy. It didn't involve showing the tube, but standing beside the horse and putting tube at the back side of the mouth and quick squeeze.

she was seized by police about 8 years ago in a starvation case near Everett, WA

@@offgridishliving I used to live in Stanwood, WA. North of Everett, obvi. There was a field I drove by daily. It was bordered by the main highway going into Stanwood, and I believe 64th ave. One day in 2012 ish, this large field was suddenly filled with 20-30 beautiful horses, they were there for some time. I wonder if she was part of that group. They were quite beautiful, although some were a bit skinny... and half of them disappeared in 2013, the rest in 2015.
