💙 Who are we?
We are Ben and MP!
Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way.
More about us:

💙 Massive thanks to our amazing team of carpenters that never let us down and continue to amaze us at every step of the process: Toninho, Zeca, Hélio, Claiton, William, Nezo, Nico, Adilson, Beto and Luiz. YOU ARE LEGENDS!

There is a good reason why your resin was lumpy and bubbly, it needed to go into a pressure or a vacuum chamber, or have a really liquid formula, so it takes a couple of days to cure, which will allow the air bubbles to surface

Mix with a stick, do not use a automatic Winder. Because that produces the bubbles inside and can never get them out slowly with a stick.

Hi,as a retired marine engineer I have to back up a comment another viewer mentioned….The propeller nut should have run up the threads freely by hand, followed by the lock nut also freely…and only then should the locknut be tightened against the prop nut and then it itself is secured by a split pin or tab washer.Cheers Roly🇬🇧

I commend you on your patience in pouring epoxy. It's getting better each time. It looks like if anything happens to the prop, the boat will have to be pulled out of the water to take it off again. I don't see a way to undo that while under the water. Dogs are very good at loving their owners forever! But if you rescue one from the dog pound or nurse an injured one back to health, your joy will likely be doubled! Thank you for looking after those two dogs! They will return the favor someday when they sound the alarm just when you need it. Don't overlook their warnings.

Hi Guys, woo hoo !! You are going "gangbusters" !! The traditional method of sealing in and around the stern tube is pouring in hot tallow, - I'm sure Nezo (and co) will give you a heads up if it is still possible to do (ie put in filler and riser vent holes etc) and show you the simple technique of filling the void between the stern tube and the shaft log. PS. Licky is one cool dog and like Caillou, is lucky to have You and Ben and cool boat to have many happy adventures on. PPS. Just noticed the grease when they were sliding in the shaft. Just check the water galleries in that stern bearing are clear and/or cleaned out so water can flow around, especially if you have a cooling water takeoff for introducing forced water aft of the gland packing. This really helps to expel and avoid "stagnant" water in the stern tube, which can cause electrolytical damage to the shaft. All easy stuff to check and install if needs be. Just wish I wasn't 15,000 miles away or I would come and do it for a cold beer!

I am amazed at the amount of work that you have done the immense amount of labor that has gone into your project. I have since sold my house in the United States and moved to Columbia South America, but I still watch yourvideos every week and can’t wait until the day you finally launch. All of you have done such an incredible job. I hope the launch goes well.

For the sink what would be a good idea is to have one with fresh water and one with seawater so like this you use less of your own stock of water and has to refill not as often you're a water tank. This is just an idea that I use on a boat and was very handy to save water. Have a good one and congratulations on all the good work.

We once rescued a dog who looked exactly like Licky. Found her a home on a small Alpaca ranch. The family took her outside to meet the Alpacas. She (Abby) trotted right out to the herd and laid down next to them. She was their new guard dog. That's all Abby wanted to do from then on - to stand guard for ''her'' herd.
