I love your passion and excitement. A Mud Sucker or Pike Minnow is still a fish and still fun, much better than getting skunk. Good luck tomorrow and get that Steelhead.

Thanks Peter! I skunked the next morning haha! When the weather gets better, let’s hit up the surfs! River fishing is tough.

@@FeatherFishing Yes sir, waiting for good weather. Maybe San Geronimo near Half Moon Bay is a good spot.

I went fishing around there a few times. Lots of fish, big ones too.... But something scared the crap out of me last time I fished that river. I didn't tell my friend whom went out with me that day, and when I asked around, they tell me, that's why the locals don't go fishing on the feather. But great video. Thanks.

There's some narrower places up river you can drive to with your car.. There's a good spot about 500 yards down river but you would have to walk in to it..
@FeatherFishing3 күн бұрын
Thanks Joe! Yeah, I made a rookie mistake of sticking to that first spot for too long, by the time I suspected those might have not been steelheads that were jumping, it was already too dark lol

I have seen some monsters come out of here. Such a great spot when the fishing is good. Your fishing where all the snags are lol

Those suckers and pikeminnow are there all year around. Sometimes you'll get lucky and jackpot a big striper over there. 🎣
@FeatherFishing3 күн бұрын
They felt pretty good when I hooked them, but when they didn’t put up a fight, I started getting suspicious haha
@guywellbaum9530Күн бұрын
Squaw fish or Sacramento pike, minnow pike. Put up a good fight. Caught on bait , and lures. They get big. My biggest was 10 lbs , and alot of them under. Use for strippers for bait. up to a pound.

Thank you for all the good info! I did a little research, and they are native to the Sac River, but not sure if they’re considered invasive in the Feather River or not. Someone also said to not release them back to the water if caught, but I can’t find any bounty programs for these guys for the Sac or Feather river.

Where is that last spot if you don’t mind. Just in case when I visit my sis in Oroville, 2.5 hrs drive from me
@FeatherFishing3 күн бұрын
Hey David, I always hesitate to rely to these kind of questions because I don’t want to burn the spots for the locals. If you go back and watch my video before this one, and look it up on Google Maps, you’ll see that there’s only one of those inlet around here 😉 and I know how you feel about driving so far for a spot that is uncertain to have fish, but part of fishing is also exploring. Sometimes, the Fish God will reward you for the effort. Goodluck!

Hey bro are you new to fishing? Nothing against you I'm just asking. If you need help holler. The first fish you caught in this video is a sucker, the second fish you caught in this video is a Sacramento Pike minnow(good striper bait), 3rd fish you caught Sacramento Pike minnow

Thanks John! Yeah, I just dived into this hobby just about over a year ago, and most of my fishing experience has been walking the beaches in Southern California. Fishing rivers up here is very new to me. That’s why whenever I skunk for too long up here, I’d make the trip to the beach just to prove to myself that I still can fish haha!

It look like a pikeminnow you gotta take those things out of the system. Don't throw them back alive. I think you can tour them into fishing game for money.!!! And bud, you'll know when you get a steelhead on them fish got shoulders from the saltwater ! The steelhead is a run rainbow trout! But still had comes down to the gene pool, not all rainbow trout go to the ocean and not all steelhead go to the ocean either but they usually get a lot bigger than the regular rainbow !! you got your drag set too loose big steelhead would peel you out so fast!!!!

I can't wait to hook on a steelhead now haha! It sounds like the fight is going to be amazing! Thank you for the advise on the drag. I was afraid of bending out the hook if i set it too tight, but now i know.
