The intro is incredible! The stories are immensely powerful, honest, and true. I honestly feel like the only cherry on the top of this Podcast was if it were edited as one continuous story, starting from the first day. It kind of jars me slightly when it changes in a chapter to something that isn't run off the previous part. But its a minor thing, the entire experience is an incredible journey, the editing is near flawless with the music. I do wonder how it would feel with more old footage and SFX placed in during post pro like the Episode 2 of Season 1, to help build the atmosphere of watching. I also loved the scenes and statements from other people who were around during that period like in Episode 1 of Season 1, during the story but hey, if there's ever a deal somewhere for this to be aired anywhere else, these would be my considerations for doing that. Everything else is perfection and I think I speak for many when I say, we appreciate the time, effort, dedication, passion and commitment to sharing this experience with us.

I'd prefer more photos of people, but it's no big deal to google up the names of all these guys. I kind of like that they went minimal on the sound effects after the second episode. I'm trying to picture this as a series, and if you did it in sequential order, losing these guys would hit the audience hard. That Johnny Keys story would take two episodes, and probably win Emmys. Especially if you had someone big like DeNiro or Pacino playing the role. (I can almost picture 82 year old Pacino in the van, telling "Sammy" to cover the windows up.) A passing of the torch for a new generation, of both the Family, and the entertainment it inspires.

As I sit here on a crisp September Saturday morning with my coffee missing my father. Sammy, hearing you talk about the life, I have more and more questions. My (step) father came to Ohio from New Jersey. He was born in the Bronx around 1920. My grandparents were Sicilian immigrants. I've been told my grandmother was a school teacher in the old country. Hearing your stories takes me back to when my father was alive and having coffee with him telling stories. Now I don't think my father was made, but I'm rather positive he had dealings with the family. He was a proud teamster in the trucking union. As we watched movies about the life, he would point out stuff that he knew was true. The scene in Goodfellas when the truck pulled up to the diner and reported his truck stolen, my father said thats how he made a good life for himself. Many years later he came to Ohio. I asked him why he came to boring Ohio when he had a good thing going in Jersey and such. His exact words was "I never knew when a friend's car was going to explode". I dismissed it a little because, you know stories. A few years after my Papa Joe passed away, I watched the movie and documentary about Danny Greene. As I was watching i suddenly realized something. Maybe, just maybe my father came here during or shortly after that time to help clean up things. Now my father was a lover and a hustler, he never said he was a "leg breaker" but he knew quite a few. My father was a big guy with a big character. He wasn't loud, he just had the "look". Thank you so much for doing this Sammy, if for nothing but to let me feel like my father is here telling his stories again. I have a tremendous respect for you.

I know the feeling, my dad used to talk about running moonshine when we was little in the 1970s, I never much thought about it til I got older...seeing old pictures of him from the 1940s working on cars, knowing how Memphis was at that time and knowing what a stocked car really was gave new meaning to those stories, alot of us including yourself probably knew and ran with sum hustler and shady characters, our fathers most likely was no different...i came of age in the 80s and 90s and the blueprint was still make as much money in the streets without getting killed or put away when older smart guys like your dad and mine go mainly legit and settle the hell down.

As a mafia film and fiction genre fan, as a student of history who craves imersion in every nuance of the more intense components of a given stage in history, and as a true crime fanatic, I can't express just how mindblowing entertaining, thought provoking and fucking satisfying Sammy's podcasts are. We want Sammy's story on film and are getting it with Sammy playing a central role in the writing and production. Outside of that, what I also really want to see is Sammy playing a role as Boss or Street Boss in a classic and well made piece of film fiction on the level of The Sopranos, The Godfather, Boardwalk Empire. After watching these podcasts, no one else but Sammy could really play that role in any kind of really satisfying way. Michael Franzese is awesome and I love his channel, but he has a little bit of flinch about him and honestly, he is a great life coach kind of mentor guy who has so thoroughly transformed himself into a on the books extra new and improved legit guy, that he'd never do a role like that justice. Sammy is Sammy, always has been, always will be. He personifies the teeth and claws and mind that is so sorely lacking in masculinity these days, or at least is detested as non conformist and vastly under represented and under valued. Fuck the world, Sammy, and never stop telling your stories, as YOU.

It becomes clear when you watch Sammy why he was such a powerhouse in the NYC mob scene. His biggest strength was persuasion and negotiation, using charisma to play upon his partner's own interests in order to make money rather than shaking them down. I remember watching Sammy's interview with NBC sometime back and he said that rather than directly shaking down the bakeries for example, they would get the bakeries to raise their prices. So instead of forcing the bakers to just give up their money, the mobsters had them raise their prices across the board by say 10 cents a loaf, with 3 cents going to the mob and the other 7 cents going to the bakers. So both the mob and the bakers made more money. This way of doing bussiness allowed the mob to control the prices of entire markets and was one of the primary reasons why NYC became one of the most expensive cities to do bussiness in. Even the price of the candy bar you bought at the store or the beer you ordered at the bar contained a mob tax. So a piece of every dollar you spent in NYC during those days went to the mob. Tbh Sammy is one of the best KZbinrs I've seen. Im super ADD and can't pay attention to anything, but these stories are captivating. Whether you love him or hate him, you gotta admit this is one of the best channels on KZbin. 👍 👍!
