Just tuning in because I just found nutmeg notebook about 2weeks ago when I caught your interview with Doug Evans. You two have one of the best channels for wfpb eating. I loved this episode especially for the alternatives to some of the appliances.

Thx 4 this! I put several items on my wish list immediately. To add to the discussion... the small round silicone pan is wonderful to cook small batches of oatmeal, rice, etc. in a large Instant Pot. I use it every day for my bkfst grain/veggie bowl. Also, they make small round silpat/silicone mats for the air fryer that my food allergic kid can't live without! They save a LOT of waste and money!

Love my two chef knives, cutting boards, Pyrex glass storage containers for meal prep, instant pot, vitamix, nutribullet, food processor, kitchen aide mixer, silicone muffin pans(mini and regular), two cup Souper cubes( I want the 1 cup and the cookie!). Things that I would love are the Breville Smart Oven Air, silpat mats (parchment paper is becoming impossible to buy, I keep buying the wrong size pan to fit the silpat, lol!) scan pan or other nonstick pan, the special vitamix spatula😀and of course the Holland bowl! I should mention that I use everything I have either daily or weekly. Only buy what. You will honestly use😀

I have an Oster Versa high-powered blender, and I have always been very happy with it - no complaints, and it's more affordable than some other brands. I have never used a Vitamix, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Versa.

I have two Pampered Chef microwave steamers. I watched a Chef AJ show and she was lauding the Pampered Chef steamer baskets. They are great and I use mine frequently. I highly recommend and I'm not usually a fan for steaming food in the microwave but the Pampered Chef steamers are easy to use and items come out as if you steamed them on the stove top. I'm giving a few away for Christmas gifts for my friends who are not into cooking but do use their microwaves. They are game changers for folks who aren't into or know much about cooking.

@@kristamcnamee1456 I first bought the smaller one but then ordered the bigger one. I could get by with the smaller as its only me who uses it. I use both. Bigger one would be far better for two or more people.

@@nancywillis1188 thank you. I am often conflicted when it comes to size. Being WFPB, the volume of food I eat is abundant. Like you, I’m the only one that eats this way in my household.

As long as food is vacuum-sealed before freezing, there should be no end date - unless the freezer goes off for any length of time. It’s the air that causes freezer burn, which is unsightly, but not necessarily dangerous.

Thank you! I’ve been looking for an all silicone ladle forever. The ones I find have seams/regular plastic components or they are too big to fit in my drawer. Any recommendations? Thanks again!

Tami, great suggestions. You mentioned that your favorite spoonula was by Tovolo, but the only one I have seen on your Amazon page or on the Amazon site that looks like yours is by StarPak Basics. What brand is yours? And, is it the regular or extra-long? I have recently replaced my kitchen utensils with silicone ones and I have some in both brands and like them both. Thanks. I’m anxiously awaiting Tom’s list of Black Friday specials!
@NutmegNotebook4 жыл бұрын
The Tovolo one isn’t currently available but we have two of the StarPak ones and they are equally as good! I don’t think they are extra long.
@lnachman124 жыл бұрын
Thanks, they can be XL. What do you recommend, XL or regular length?
@NutmegNotebook4 жыл бұрын
That’s a personal choice depending on how you intend to use them. If you are mixing up large batches of food in deep bowls maybe you want extra long. I get along just fine with the standard length.

I have a question - has anyone purchased the Breville oven and had any problems with the fan? I am afraid to purchase it as I have seen many of the same complaints online that the fan starts to malfunction about 2 years in and that breville charges $160 just to look at it and then they find out that they do not make that part as a replacement....I've noticed more and more items (expensive or not) that are no part of the "throw-away" mentality a lot of these companies have. anyway, if anyone has any insight I would be most appreciative. Thanks

We had a problem with the door after using it for almost 2 years, Breville replaced it no charge. I has worked great ever since.
