Are battery packs for charging devices allowed in your suitcase or do they need to go in carry-on bag? Or would you purchase when you land ?

Hey Terry - in our experience, most airlines we've flown with require charging devices (i.e. lithium based batteries) to be stored in your CARRY-ON baggage as a safety/security requirement. If you're ever unsure, we recommend that you google "[your airline] carry-on requirements" to see what can and can't come on-board with you :)

Cool plug adapter! I've never seen one that complex. Ja, i hadn't thought of a power bank. Sim cards in S. Africa are really cheap; sometimes a network offers them free.

Always carry some clean water. Those of us have a prob with DEET . I used mosquito milk from europe which is now not made I believe. Smidge , uk, is ex as is Avon hand cream in pink container. Lumberjacks in Scotland used it!!!
