Stage manager is going places. Movement was perfect and fluid. Timing was the same. He really does draw in your interest in the themes of the show by being so dramatic about the seemingly simple town. Delivery of "nice town. Know what I mean?" was chillingly good. This is just the first five minutes

Being a stage manager is hard. I’m currently rehearsing this play as a stage manager and oh boy, the stress. Luckily, there’s 2 other stage managers. Otherwise, I’d quit a long time ago

The young man performing as the Stage Manager really has me excited to audition for this play. I looked at some version of this play before settling for this one, and none of the other actors had me feeling the same way about that role as he does. Very good job!

Thank you for posting this. 'Our Town' was our school play when I was 16, and I was lucky enough to be chosen to play The Stage Manager.....I have to say that your Stage Manager was far better than I was, but whilst your Emily was very good our Emily was sensational! I would love to play the part again, now that I understand the nuances of Wilder's script so much more (I'm now 70)....a pity that the sound quality in Act 3 is so poor though, however I loved seeing the whole thing again.

Our town is a realistic life that everything happening in this world are base on what we can see and our critical analysis of some characters who mime at the background of the play. Finally i may like to use this same script for my acting as it is but with different techniques Thanks i appreciated this play and Thornton Wilder for his level best in directing this play.

I'm playing Wally and Lady from the balcony, my Walley is like the one in this video, but with much more "bratty younger sibling energy" and more animated. Though my lady from the balcony needs some work... Lol It's only our third week of practice, and we have to perform it three days in a row 😭

The Stage Manager says this performance was directed and produced by a "Rebecca" someone, but I can't for the life of me make out the last name. (Begins with an S, maybe?) Is there a link somewhere indicating cast and crew names, venue, etc.? Also, for citation purposes, would like to know date of performance (not date video uploaded) Thanks!
@TomGorman1239 жыл бұрын
+Victoria Marinelli Hi Victoria, It was actually directed by Myself (Tom Gorman) and Rebecca Snape. The venue was the Ellen Terry Theatre at Coventry University in December 2012 and the lighting was by Catherine Cullinane. I can get you a full list of cast and crew if you need more info.

I recently played Mr. Webb and I can tell you that the Mr. Webb in this video were leaving out a lot of words that made the sentences run much more smoothly. Its weird to watch someone else do the part after you've just done it.

So I tried out for the part of Emily Webb and I'm watching this to just get some knowledge. But... Did Mr.Webb actually cut his hand n the script or was that an excuse because the person playing Mr.Webb was late? XD

Kristen Arabit it's actually in the script 😊😊
@starjosephs15207 жыл бұрын
Kristen Arabit Wilder wanted to give people a different view of theatre so he has a tendency to make the audience aware that the chraracters know (every now and then) that they are just actors 😊

Only critique I have for the stage manager is the proper pronunciation of the play. It's not "Are Town", make sure to pronounce it correctly "Our Town".
@Corridor892 жыл бұрын
No need for this critique. For many in the US, ‘are’ and ‘our’ are homophonous. There’s no “correctly” where regional dialect variances are concerned. The kid did great; let’s leave it at that.
@robertodimas74292 жыл бұрын
@@Corridor89 wrong. The proper pronunciation is "our" not "are". Of course it can be said either way in normal talk but that's because people have caught on to it, not because its technically correct. Actually, specifically in voice and speech trainings, they teach you this with the learning of IPA (International phonetics alphabet). This is one of those words that people should learn how to pronounce correct for public speakers, actors, singers, etc. Like I said it's not a huge critique, just small.

It was there, but a rights dispute over music used (a hymn of all things) got it taken down. I've appealed and if I win, I'll put the rest of the play back up. Glad you like it - we worked hard on this one.
@lulachthesimple9 жыл бұрын
Tom Gorman Which hymn? And did you have to pay for the rights to use the hymn in the stage production, over and above the rights for the play?
@TomGorman1239 жыл бұрын
It was a piece called 'Happy Meeting in Glory' by Ry Cooder that we played as the audience were leaving. We have a performing rights license here, so we were covered. KZbin didn't like it as it is a Sony release, though.
@lulachthesimple9 жыл бұрын
Tom Gorman Thanks. I'd wondered if it was one of the ones actually used in the script (and sung by the cast) as it's a longstanding aim of mine to put this play on sometime.
@TomGorman1239 жыл бұрын
There's only 'Blessed be the ties that bind' and 'Art Thou Weary' specified in the script, both of which are out of copywright.
