I think I saw an advert in the background by the fire station about the launch of Ulster Television, which would date this to 1959?

I was born in Lisburn , it was a wonderful place to grow up many found memories.. I think I might be in this movie as a baby with my sister at the start in the old market. But I'm Not sure .

Thank you for uploading this old film...i own it on old VHS but now thanks to you, i can now keep it in good good quality. There are a few places in this film that i would like to know where they are...the first is at 12:13 "The rounds"..is this Quay street? The second is at 19:22, a row of old red brick houses, as the presenter talks about Bow Street, i can not even begin to think where they were. And lastly..24:21 as he talks about the old "Raggety bap" school..what is this old grey building?

I'm so glad that back then they could label the Lagan Valley Hospital as 'One of the best in the province' for God forgive me, it may as well not be standing now, though I was born there.

Hahaha. My mother trained and worked there in late 70's early 80's it literally has her in tears just thinking about it.

Isn't this a lovely, friendly and affable wee town. Well what the fuck happened to this little paradise during my formative years in the 1970's, well let me think, oh yes, in retrospect Lisburn was nothing more that an enclave of contentious Loyalist bigots. Now living on U.S Pacific Coast I thank God for my Master's Degree which enabled me to experience the world in all its beauty, so in conclusion education is the positivity that deflects all the negativities of sectarian bigotry.

I think it's sad that you feel that way! I have lots of friends from both communities, maybe your the bigot?
