I grew up in San Diego and Fillipi's Pizza was our favorite. When I moved to Washington there was one in our town owned by a relative from the San Diego but closed several years ago. So glad you showcased it! I love your channel.

Hodad's is only popular because it was on TV. When in SD, Phil's BBQ is the place to go, near Arena Blvd. It serves 2k people A DAY. Phil created the BBQ sauce when he was 16 and his food is amazing. It's lined up around the building, but worth the wait.

I was stationed in San Diego twice in the 70’s. I have always loved that city. Never knew about little Italy till a few years ago we walked over from our hotel. My son was stationed there too and loved visiting him there. He always finds the best restaurants.

Makes me miss San Diego. Not been there since 2017 Road trip. My dad and I flew to Oregon and drive all the way down to spread my grandmother's ashes over are Coronda Beach. It's a great city to visit, such a cool vibe. Great bars and restaurants in Gas lamp Quarter. Oh and home to Phils BBQ....what a place

Going back to watch this series! Hubby and I are doing a DL/DCL in March. We plan to take the Amtrak from Anaheim to SD. We were curious what time you took the train or what time you suggest? We will be at DL the night before. (7:45, 10:45,11:45 and 12:45 are the ones we can take). We are Already booked at the same SD hotel since it looked to be within walking distance of the train and port.

You were SO CLOSE to Dog Beach! Please search for some Ocean Beach Dog Surfing footage. (Dog Beach also has an appearance in the pilot of Veronica Mars). OB’s Newport and the OB Pier are in the beginning of “Almost Famous”; and please add Lucha Libre to your must eat in San Diego list (especially if comparing California burritos). As a local, I always love seeing my city reviewed. As far as Hodads, it’s definitely a great burger but far from the best here. Next time, try Rocky’s, Chicago Fire Grill, and Swagyu. All 10 times better than Hodad’s. Filippis is good too but try some fine dining Italian at Cucina Enoteca in Del Mar.

I love SD and lived in Ocean Beach back in the 80s on the street, Niagara that leads right up to the entrance of the pier. I walked out my door, passed 2 little cottages and stepped onto it. Best place I've lived in my entire life. Was fun seeing you guys enjoying it too 🌴🌞 That burger looked delicious!

We have a Filippi's here in Napa, CA. It's the best Italian place hands down. They do have GREAT pizza, but all of their food is fantastic! The Lasagna and cheese raviolis are favorites, so great choices. Always have to get a giant meatball too. Can be a tad pricey, but you get what you pay for IMO. They also have THE BEST deserts! So glad you two discovered Filippi's!

My family and I took a trip to San Diego in January of this year, where we went to La Jolla Cove and Little Italy the first day. We then went to Imperial Beach and Old Town San Diego on the second day.

Next time get the pizza at Filippi's, it is soooo good. The cheese is so thick that it slides off the pizza if you aren't careful and super gooey too. The baked pasta's are good there because the cheese is baked on top and it gives it extra goodness doing it that way. Probably the furthest north to you guys neck of the woods would be the one in Temecula. Glad you enjoyed it.

Wow. so great. My wife's family is italian and when her parents were around it was Sunday night pasta dinner like old school.. That's what Fillipi's reminds me of. And that giant meatball looks like what they offer at Bucca de Beppo - and called the X-ball on the receipt (so thats what we call any giant meatball on plate). Next time you're in San Diego you should hit up The Mission in Mission Beach. Their menu of pancakes for breakfast is so great. (only open 7am-3pm)

BTW, I'm a San Diegan and I think our cruise port is the best. Our port has the old terminal and our shiny brand new terminal and the pier is literally steps from the action of our waterfront, Seaport Village, Gaslamp Quarter, convention center, and our beautiful downtown. Too bad more cruise lines don't home port here. Carnival and RCCL used to be here.

I live right around the corner from that Hodads, which is better by far than the downtown location. The one at Petco park is good though. I missed you by so little, I went and grabbed my Hodads yesterday at 12:30 then left for work. 🤣 enjoy the cruise.

omg welcome! I hope you enjoy sd while you're here!! im glad yah went to the hod ads in ob that means you found the local beach!! ma I recommend chris' Ono grinds Hawaiian food, crazee burger, corvette dinner, volares, and Phils bbq! as for cool places to see, the spruce street bridge, cable street beach ( in ob go on cable st and drive south/west till you get to a huge hill between apartment buildings, walk down the hill and there's a beautiful hidden beach) and the heritage park victorian houses in old town!!

Next time you go to San Diego check out Point Loma area. Behind Point Loma sport fish is Mitches seafood awesome food and beautiful view
