Our Underground Off Grid Water System is Ready for Water!

In a perfect world each system should be attacked methodically and sequentially to completion. Coordination can be a big part of it. Hard to do when we start ea project off knowing nothing. End result, many of these "suggestions" come too late. In some cases the kids may get ahead of themselves in one project before they can properly synchronize transitioning between other trades. Have to give these two credit for their stick-to-it-iveness. They are lucky they are both smart enough and forgiving enough to work thru each roadblock they encounter with incredible grace and character. Building is truly an art. One home owner/builder told me he felt like he didn't get a handle on designing and then building his ideal home until he'd completed his fifth house. I don't believe we can fully appreciate just how hard it is until we try doing it ourselves. I was a supplier of construction products and I still marvel at the ability and patience some builders show with their customers and spouses.

This is going to be the longest water install series on YT! :) I just left Priest River on Saturday. It was very hot. Early mornings are great. Take advantage of the cool morning temps. If you are unaware, Laclede puts on one hell of a 4th of July celebration. 3 years running on seeing that from elevation.

Just a suggestion. Be sure to put some kind of screen or filter on the end of the overflow valve you mentioned as that should be your pressure release valve in both directions. As water goes in it will allow air to escape and as water is removed it will allow air to enter or you will have a vacuum.

If you have a lot of deburring to do, as shown in this video, try a swivel head deburring tool. It works wonderful on inside edges of plastic pipe and such.

Great! I lifted a 2 car garage with four 6 ton jacks to replace the foundation and that project didn't go anything like I thought it would. Success in the end, but hard getting there. Nice when big projects that went nothing like you thought are behind you, but never mind the hardships one still feels pretty good with a tiny bit a guilt in the end.

Great Job - - Takes alot of "stick-to-itiveness" to tackle large projects like that. Few in our society today have learned that, ...your videos help show what it is really means. Agree with the "Quit While Your Ahead" - Trying to end the project with 'testing' usually opens up one or more Pandora's box, so you either keep working and working, or go to bed with your head about to spin off!! I've finally learned more to control project flow based on not only physical energy but "emotional" energy - these projects can suck the life out of us like a vampire if we allow them to.

Great video, thanks fur sharing your journey. Please be careful entering confined spaces, don't assume that the air in there is good. If you can, force ventilate it first and be aware of the early symptoms of CO poisoning. There may also be residual fumes from the tank manufacture. Stay safe.

You guys have inspired me to put hydrants on my list of things to get done this summer on my acreage. I have a well with a pitcher pump I can attach a hose to, but since I am in woods with lots of litter that also needs cleaning up, fires could be a hazard and I will put in a garden area which could also need frost free faucets. Wish I would have thought to tell you a few days ago but great way to do frost free hydrants is to place two car tires below the hydrant then one over the waste valve and around the pipe. fill the tires with clean rock and cover with heavy plastic. in thirty years I have never had a hydrant freeze up or one fail to drain.

When applying Teflon tape, slide the roll over your middle finger, Use your forefinger to hold tension on the tape and the roll and "roll" the tape on to the threads in the direction of the fitting turning on (righty tighty), allowing the roll to spin on finger, just enough to feed the tape on the threads. Go around 2-3 times, keeping the tape taut. Then tear the tape roll away from the pipe.

Jesse you've done a masterful job engineering your layout. For those you comments about using teflon tape and not plumbers paste......well, tell them you could have used toothpaste and duck tape. Everyone know duck tape can fix anything. And....for that water hammer thing...shucks....never saw a water hammer a Lowe's or Home Depot so I don't think they exist.
