I feel like there’s such an absence of true, R&B covers in K-pop 💀 idk why I feel like they avoid the genre when picking covers and making songs in general. I see it especially with groups formed by survival shows because usually the companies try to give them a cute concept which, for the most part doesn’t match R&B but the groups main vocalists match R&B so well 😭 Like UNIS for example they have a pretty cute concept and mostly pop songs (except for Butterfly’s Dream). But Gehlee and Elisia fit R&B so well. Like I was so impressed by Elisia’s cover of Weak by SWV. It just feels like wasted potential 😔 the same thing goes for BABYMONSTER (Ahyeon, Rami, Rora, and Ruka) and ILLIT (Minju and Moka)

@@tia_imani OH MY GOSH YES! Especially for baby monster i totally see that. R&b is such a good genre to show off some real vocals especially lower register but i think kpop underutilizes that so ofc they avoid the entire genre
