Ab separation is diastasis recti is mostly due to hormonal issue. One should never do regular ab crunch or jack knife exercises for rectus abdominal since it’s separated more than2-3 fingers and such exercises are contra indicated. One should be cautious even getting up turning to one side before rising. Hormones like Estrogen and progesterone would increase ur placenta during pregnancy. In excess , you get ab separated if lines Alba. There is another hormone .. relaxin that would even make ur ligaments loose or joints unstable. Usually these last 6 months after birth or post partum. There are Exercises like supine ( face up) dead bug or transverse abdominal exercises would help. Abdominal hallowing, or ab clock exercises however, don’t do these more than 10 minutes coz u may have supine hypotension in second semester or u need bolster on right hip due to meralgia parasthetica ( if u feel numbness of tingling on right anterior thigh n below) sometimes it’s difficult lying on your back coz the weight of baby presses ur abdominal Aorta n one needs to constantly change side n it affects sleep n hence some stress with cortisol etc. O! At times the separation would turn dark and it’s callled linea nigra. wearing abdominal belt from shoulder to belly would Make help if it make ur shoulders rounded. It’s imp to exercise ur mid back muscles coz weight of belly would make shoulder more rounded. Exercises to touch ur shoulder blades together would help posture. Coz some pt will have TOS or thoracic outlet syndrome . Rectus abdominal is one that gives 6 pack and when it’s ruptured, it’s diastasis recti. So innitially belly sagging is due to hormone and later with weight of baby as well. I could feel ur experience and but ur husband loves u tremendously. Sometimes u get low BP in second trimester and high in third. Back pain etc. one should never put hot thermal on belly during pregnancy as it will increase temp for belly. N Baby will be overheated lo. Plz let ur partner massage from side toward centre or lateral to medial. But not deep. In post partum,u can apply castor oil for ur scar. So long term u shouldn’t have any issues. The reason for not advising ab exercises ur husband was showing would make it even bigger bad it will stretch more.
