Nicely done with the paint job. What you have is a topline 5 series scania, more commonly known as "early R series". They're decent bits of kit, the cab (topline) is the biggest one they do, the gearbox is a 3 pedal opticruise, think of it as the e46 m3 getrag box, same unit just different controls. The engine would be a DC16 15607cc v8, those early 16L engines are very very reliable, they're engineered to last 2 million kilometres but they're known to go way past that into the 3, 4 and 5 million mark. Maintenance wise they only need oil and filters for the most of it as there's no timing chains or belts, it's all gear driven. Usually speaking they need rebuilding around the 2 million mark, requiring a new rotating assembly, bearings, the cylinders honing and perhaps injectors if they haven't been replaced already. As far as going abroad, you're looking at the following options. 1) channel tunnel in Folkestone or the port in Dover in kent, 2) port of Immingham in east Yorks and port of Harwich by Ipswich. 3) port of Southamton but that's only if you're heading for the south of France or Spain. To facilitate your travels i'd suggest you find yourself a customs agent, they know everything you'll need to know and any reputable agent will be more than happy to help you out, the paperwork might vary depending on what you're transporting, do plenty of due diligence on what forms you need. Watch out for the vehicle specific speed limits in baguette land and check if you need a toll box, also get you a european fuel card, some of them have an app with all the registered petrol stations, not like you'll run out of fuel in that, those tanks should hold about 1200L of diesel of which 1000 realistically as the catches don't go low enough to suck the last bit of fuel. Realistically you'll get 9/10mpg out of that which translates to 1800/2000 mile range. If you need anything doing to that engine or the lorry in general, there's a man by the name of Dan in somerset, look up D.J commercials, he's a bit of a scania wizzard, there's not much that man isn't capable off. the main bonnet catch is on the drivers side A pillar from what i can remember there is none for the lower centre grill the hinges normally get very stiff you just pill it down .
