Could you please advice the best device for sleep tracking of my father who has high blood pressure? He went for sleep test at hospital. And doctor was told he has very low oxygen during that middle of his sleep. Any device that detect not only heart rate, oxygen level as well? Appreciate your advice.

@@chrisogrady28 4 months later, he's still pretty small. I guess because he specializes in fitness tracker and smart watches? His specialty being what makes the videos so good ofc. Hey Rob, just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your videos. I think it's amazing you take the time to make these in your free time, using your knowledge and passion for data/science to educate us fools. In this era of "influencers" and full time "content" (about whatever) creators who make 10mins long videos just saying something is "great", without any testing or background and mainly because they got it for free, you stand out so much more than you probably realize. Your content is gold. It's to the point, very understandable and your stupid jokes crack me up. As a sucker for health, sport and science I really love seeing all these health tools being put to the test. Also, since I recently bought a Huawei Watch Fit, I'm (NOT SO) patiently waiting for you to make more videos about it ;-) Your first video about it is a big reason why I bought it so yeah... Anyway keep it up man!

Thank you so much for creating this channel and making these videos. What a service to planet earth. I’d be interested , at the conclusion of every test, in an ongoing accuracy ranking for the various fitness trackers in the domain your test measured: sleep stage, sleep score, HRV, RHR, stress etc. Then after every test you do, rank the device against their competitors in the domain that was tested. Example: Heart rate tracking domain (1st) Apple Watch (2nd) Fitbit Charge 2 (3rd tie ) Oura Watch , Fitbit Sense etc. I wear both a Fitbit and Apple Watch and their automatic morning RHR measurements are consistently about 10 beats apart. I don’t know which device is giving the more accurate measurement.

This is such a great channel! Data, analysis, real comparisons. Please become the DC Rainmaker of fitness tracking devices. So much marketing BS out there it is difficult to know how accurate these devices can be (or not).
@nguyentminh3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rob. You just saved us a lot of efforts and money. One thing I realize is that all common retail version wearables aren't accurate enough (less than 71% for sleep) , while most measurements aren't necessary to monitor around the clock. I don't even need sleep tracking to know how my sleep quality went, I can just feel it when waking up, as I'm sure most can too. I can feel my readiness in the morning and adjust my intensity schedule in the day.
@roxbittman4 жыл бұрын
This was a really good one! I prefer the Fitbit because of the improved sleep tracking. One of the best things I learned in your video today was that the emphasis these watches and their algorithms put on Sleep Duration and timing is correct. I had previously questioned this because it seemed artificial or "too convenient" to score Time Asleep as 50% of the total Sleep Score (Fitbit). Fitbit gives Deep/REM only 25%, and Restoration (hr) 25%. I was irritated at the apparent casualness of these assigned values, but your video makes me reconsider! It is also helpful to know that the skin temperature readings may have some value. Fitbit Versa 3 and Sense measure skin temp at night as well, but they provide no analysis. I guess if one notices a spike in temperature at night, it is time to take a core temp and see how one feels! Thank you for these great videos; yours are definitely the most informative regarding health trackers.

Ah, thank you so much - I don‘t use an Oura Ring, but I really appreciate your videos. There are so many so called tests of wearables on yt, but they are more kind of unboxing. So, you one of a kind! 👍🙏

Really wish you had clarified something--when you said there was a correlation between mouseclicks and keystrokes and the sleep score, you didn't clarify if it was keystrokes and mouseclicks the day before correlating to good sleep that night, or sleep that night correlating to strokes+clicks the next day. In other words; did doing lots of mental work lead to you sleeping better, or did sleeping better lead to you doing more stroking/clicking the next day? Seems based on language implications that you're correlating with next day's strokes/clicks, but wanted clarity on that. (Also, not sure if you're checking both, but that might be interesting?) Thanks for the great content.

nice job, could I bother you with a few notes? (jitter) Add some small random noise to a discrete variable so that the points don't overlap (or some KDE colorcoding). Eg. on temp plot. (linear fit) these fits don't look convincing at all. What is the R^2 or rather what is the fit beyond linear regression or after removing outliers? Maybe RANSAC regression? (accuracy) what is the random educated guess accuracy? Say randomly chosen RAM segments every few hours?
