Here's what you need to know about Oura Ring alternative options:
✅ Oura Ring alternative options have become really popular as good competition has entered the market and people want to save money on an expensive product. But how good are the Oura Ring alternatives?
✅ Lately, there have been some criticisms of the Oura Ring too, such as their subscription model. The ring is practically useless without a monthly subscription, which is only free at first
✅ I still wear the Oura Ring though, as I like the data such as that on sleep. However, if I was new to the space and looking for a wearable, I don't know whether I'd opt for an Oura Ring again
✅ The Circular ring is one option that's already on the market. The other Oura Ring alternate options are the Ultrahuman Ring and the Movano Ring. I will review the latter options also when they come out
✅ First things first, I will consider the Oura Ring. It costs $300+, depending on the features and color. You also need a subscription to get a working ring - there's not much data without that subscription. The new Oura Ring does have new features such as blood oxygen tracking and daytime heart rate tracking
✅ What I like about the Oura Ring is that it's a third-generation product, so it has been refined a lot. The Oura Ring is also very accurate. The membership model sucks and I would also like some more data sometimes, the ring is too much geared towards the mainstream for me
✅ Then, there's the Circular Ring, which sells for $280+ USD, depending on the accessories, colors and so forth. Code ALEXF and the following link saves you money though: aferg.co/ring
✅ The Circular Ring has some standout features, such as claiming to be the smartest ring and putting a lot of emphasis on the software. Most rings are pretty standard now, so at the software level, companies can really distinguish themselves.
✅ What I don't like about the Circular Ring is that it looks a little bit cheaper and that the product is bulky
✅ The Ultrahuman, moreover, is only available on preorder right now and they will ship Dec 2022. The price is $299 USD as a base price. Ultrahuman also intends to use a subscription model, like Oura Ring, but there's not many details known yet. There's also a free lifetime subscription for early birds with the product
✅ THe design of the Ultrahuman looks more like a 1-piece design, similar to the Oura Ring. The Ultrahuman is made from titanium and ought to be scratch resistant, and I'm interesting to see how it turns out after use
✅ The Ultrahuman also aims to include continuous blood glucose monitoring (CGM), so you can know how you respond to your meals. Overall, there should be much more data available on the Ultrahuman
✅ Finally, there's the Movano Ring, which only has a few press releases and there's not much data. The press release states that they will compete with the Oura Ring on price point. Also, Movano is considering a subscription model
✅ Movano aims to get blood pressure monitoring and blood glucose level monitoring in the ring itself, which would be extremely cool. The design looks more like the Circular Ring.
✅ Overall, I recommend you subscribe so that you can see the Oura Ring alternative options, or Oura Ring 3 alternatives soon

I feel like if Oura wanted to move to subscription model, they might as well throw in the cost of the ring as a lease, with the ability to replace it if it stops working for free or upgrade like the latest iphone/Samsung subscription models. Why pay so much up front (which is reasonable for other wearables ....with no subscription) and I still have to keep paying for basic apis.

I agree; my Oura free subscription status expired and I have not signed up for the subscription. I am just opposed to the subscription when I can get similar stats for free. I will continue to use my RingConn because it doesn't require a subscription. Without the Oura subscription it's just a ring with limited stats, not to motivating for me.

On my 5th oura starting wtih the first kickstarter also. The biggest problem for me is battery basically lasts just about 2 years. After 2 years it quickly becomes useless. So its 300 bucks for a ring that needs to be replaced every two years. With luck it dies before warranty expires and they send you a replacement which happened to me once. They are pretty good with honoring their warranty though. Don't know if other rings have the same problem.

Pre-ordered the Circular in September 2022 and still waiting for my order to ship. I'm very hopeful that the ring is will provide useful metrics for workouts and sleep. I'm also really rooting for Circular, as a company, to add competition and procing pressure to Oura.

Good luck with the Circular ring. I was one of the somewhat early backers and it took almost two years to get a ring, which eventually worked for a week or so - it turned out that they sent rings that had close to no water resistance, so washing my hands and sweating for a week killed it. I am still waiting for the replacement water resistant version, which is now available… most of this is perfectly fine when backing a new product from a new company, yet their hardware issue in combination with rather peculiar communication strategy is not a big plus.

Good news for the Ultrahuman Ring Air: "Is there any add-on subscription to access data? The ring can be ordered at full price upfront, there is no subscription cost to access your data." But seems like they discontinued the R1?

The ultrahuman ring is to be titanium, which can be bad if you injure your finger to point it is swelling and the ring needs to be cut off to be removed (not a likely scenario, but possible) to get the finger swelling to go down. Titanium rings can be hard to impossible to cut off in the emergency room.

I do suggest you check out their FB group though - facebook.com/groups/439310988270575 As for a deeper dive into the differing features - it's too hard to do at this stage as so much is unknown about the new rings. Hopefully in a few more months when i have more updates I can do a more detailed comparison.

I'm just on there website now - ringconn.com/pages/ringconn-smart-ring - it looks decent. Sleek. No stand out features though (compared to the Oura 3). Well they claim a week long battery life - so that is a 'upgrade' from the Oura. They say no subscription - so that is good. Actually I've just seen that their charging case has a built in battery so you can charge your ring without having to plug it in. A neat feature - especially when travelling etc (one less cable to plug). Sizes go up to 14 (bigger than Oura). Thanks for pointing this ring out to me! I'll pin this comment. I wish I had known about it before I filmed this video so thank you for sharing it with me and everyone else :D

I think it is a shame that RingConn didn't send a test unit to Alex for review. They sent it to other KZbinrs. The most differentiating part of it is the price. While the other brands sell for 300USD, RingConn asks 150USD in their Indiegogo campaign. I am gonna approach this company with a doubt until their campaign is realized. The company was founded last year by a Chinese man. We see a bunch of wearable rings appearing this year after Oura. They want to stand out in one way or another in the competition. The problem is that they are not delivering stable results/measurements. Health oriented smart ring concept is a nice idea but no company has managed to do it yet. Accurate heart rate measurement is delivered by Apple and Huawei watches at the moment under almost all conditions. Products released by other companies measure heart rate accurately only in some conditions.They are not fully reliable. Accurate sleep tracking has been achieved by Apple recently and Fitbit comes seconds in this area. Other devices just don't report correct sleep analysis. They show sleep stage durations not even close to the ones measured by true EEG devices. They are gimmick in this regard. When Circular asked their prospective buyers the features they want to see on their device, I nominated blood pressure. Because that's a very important cardiac output and many people suffer from high blood pressure and it doesn't have symptoms like other diseases. You can have a heart attack without your body giving you a notice. And Aktiia band, a Swiss company, showed that blood pressure measurement can be achieved with PPG signals. That's remarkable. You need to do advanced signal processing and analysis to extract blood pressure data from PPG signals. I believe Apple will do it in near future as well, just like they did it for sleep tracking. Non-invasive blood glucose measurement is also on the way. I think we will see it widespread in 2024. Last but not least, Binah.ai, an Israeli company proved that vital body signals can be measurement even by smartphone cameras ! I was shocked when I first saw it. Unfortunately they don't offer their product yet to end customers, only sell to hospitals. But that's an indication what we can do even with cameras we daily use once they are properly analyzed and processed.

Well sorrrry! This video was published before I had done any indepth testing with the circular. If I had waited until I had used the circular ring for a month or so, then published this video, then you would have come a long and said 'well ring X is shipping next week... why didn't you just wait until you got that ring before publishing this video...' This video wasn't meant to be a comparison - it was simply meant to be a look at all the smart rings coming out onto the market. Not everyone was aware of all of these rings. And not everyone wants to scroll through each website. Sometimes they like having people do it all for them and present it too them in a short video..
