Thank you for this video. I am so tempted by pretty pots, especially these. But, the care and limitations always turn me off in the end and keep using my stainless and cast iron. I really appreciate all the pros and cons and your honesty! 10 out of 10!

I appreciate this honest review! I recently purchased a ceramic lined coffee mug. It is amazing for keeping beverages hot - for 2+ hours! And it keeps cold water cold a surprisingly long time. I do like it and I imagine it a similar concept to these lovely pans. Man! I'd love a kitchen full of sage colored pans! But like you, I cook everything in well seasoned, well loved, long lived cast iron. I am not so good with delicate things and I often cook on high heat.

I have only just come across of your channel and seen couple of videos....but flicking through the list of them, all I can say is 'wow'...I'm loaded now with something interesting to watch. Having Finnish roots, I am very familiar with sourdough and with your other baking recipes/methods, but it has been interesting to find out how similar your methods are. Greetings from one Anja to another....looking forward to spend some quality time in your company.

Wonderful video. All these "new & improved" expensive cookware never quite live up to the use of good old cast iron or stainless-steel. I think the problem new cooks have is not knowing how to cook in them.

100%…I know I fall into that category. I do not know how to use cast iron. I have a whole collection that was passed down and unfortunately it’s only used as decor.
@gidget8717
@gidget8717 Жыл бұрын
@@Mejiaelis its not hard, just habit. You heat the pan before putting food in, both stainless and cast iron. With stainless do not put your fat in until the pan is hot. Example: when I fry something in stainless (potatoes or eggs) I heat the pan (I use medium heat) until its hot enough that water sprinkled from my fingertips bead. Then I add oil and a little butter or ghee. Then add the food. With cast iron the trick is not in the cooking method but in the care of the cookware. If your food sticks, the pan needs to "season". There are all kinds of videos on how to do it but the simple way as to put about an half inch of oil in the cold pan and heat it until it bubbles around a wooden spoon handle. That's right, turn the spoon upside-down and stick the tip of the handle straight down, of it bubbles turn off the heat and let us cool a bit. (Enough so you don't hurt yourself) pour the oil into a heat proof bowl, take paper towels and ripe the entire inside of the cast iron. Let it cool. And put it away. Everytime you wash it sit it back on the stove, heat it up until its hot and put a little oil on a paper towel and oil it again. The oil will actually absorb into the cast iron that's why people say, "cast iron gets better and better the more you use it." The iron will make a nonstick surface as it absorbs oil each time you "season" it after cleaning.

@@Mejiaelis one more thing about stainless. After a while or everytime if you cook on high heat, the bottom of your stainless will discolor and start to stick. To fix that uses a stainless cleaner. What I use is Cameo stainless steel and copper cleaner. After you wash your cookware (or you put it though the dishwasher) wet the inside, sprinkle a little Cameo on the bottom of the pan and with a wet (but squeezed out) dish cloth rub the surface that's discolored (inside & outide if needed) rinse and dry and its back to it nonstick finish again.

I've always stayed with cast iron, copper, stainless, and occasionally glass. Even the copper, which is pricy, but very durable, seems less expensive than this trendy cookware. I'll stick to loading my pans with fat. For those looking for nonstick, this does seem like an alternative.

Anything that is 'coated' I steer away from. It may be healthier than traditional non-stick, but IMO anything that is 'coated' is bound to leach out some nasties. I also called reached out to the company a while ago to ask where it is manufactured and found out that it is manufactured in China, which is a definite NO-GO for me. I am going to stick with my All Clad - made in the USA cookware. I always cook with butter, ghee, coconut oil or tallow - so I do not have any issues with food sticking to the pan.

Nope on these! I have plenty of non stick cook ware without any toxic chemicals that come from Italy and Denmark and..I have just started to use enameled and non enameled cast iron for a fraction of the cost except one Le Creuset pot that I still got a huge discount on at Home Goods Store. I spent thousands on my ScanPan pans from Denmark but they have lasted 20 years, but I did baby them for sure. I have had a few fails with those pans..hence I will NEVER spend a ton of money on pans again. So many good/non toxic inexpensive pans available these days especially at Home Goods Stores.
