The child lying about something like that is an issue in itself. But the mother speaking to staff like that and allowing her daughter to act like that is something else
@ryanstoddard18033 жыл бұрын
At least Mr King put an end to that phone call. I remember an article in the Daily Mail had a line from Carmelita’s mother saying she was a wild child but after seeing the episode said her daughter was “out of line” and nothing about herself being rude to Mr King or being disrespectful of Mr Drew on that phone call. I doubt she or her daughter even apologised to them. She is lucky Mr Goddard does not believe in permanent exclusion otherwise that would have been the end of her at that school.
@ryanstoddard18033 жыл бұрын
@@killian7519 i can see that in that moment, but after it is proven the daughter was lying Mr King and especially Mr Drew were owed an apology. I cannot believe how strict British schools are. The Norwegian school system is quite different. You can swear at a teacher and there will be no consequences. But you don’t do that here, because teachers have equal respect for students and we have equal respect for them. Teachers aren’t above students, they’re equal.
@jon_235462 жыл бұрын
It's a difficult thing to change overnight. I'm from the UK and went to a school like this. I think that strict uniform policies and such don't contribute much to a learning environment, and are probably more of a holdover from old-fashioned techniques. Exclusion too doesn't really feel like a useful punishment for children like Carmelita, since all you're doing is depriving them of further learning. Obviously though, the staff-student relationship requires mutual respect (as you describe) and I don't think that students swearing at teachers should be ignored, because that isn't fair on the staff and it isn't helpful for the student. I would imagine what misbehaving students really need is careful attention to try and find the reasons why they are acting out in the first place, but unfortunately a lot of British schools are underfunded and teachers just don't have the time. So the solution is difficult to find.

@@animalmotherdk2649 I'm not so sure, I went to a school with a uniform and I don't think it's got anything to do with bullying or topping yourself. That happens anyway. Many countries (Scandinavia and Europe) don't have uniform and do NOT have higher student suicide rates by any stretch of the imagination.
