That’s what poor/uneducated people do. It’s part of their culture. Lying is so heavily ingrained in how they live that even when it is obvious it’s a lie they just double down on it. You see it on “Police Interceptors” type shows all the time. At least Mr King put an end to that phone call. I remember an article in the Daily Mail had a line from Carmelita’s mother saying she was a wild child but after seeing the episode said her daughter was “out of line” and nothing about herself being rude to Mr King or being disrespectful of Mr Drew on that phone call. I doubt she or her daughter even apologised to them. She is lucky Mr Goddard does not believe in permanent exclusion otherwise that would have been the end of her at that school.

It has happened plenty of time and certainly way more than it should have. This is why it's hard to take accusations seriously as well which means that legitimate cases often get shrugged off. The results of such accusations are genuinely devestating and false accusations should result in punishment of the same length as someone who had committed assault.
