CHRISTMAS IN LONDON | Things To Do In 3-4 Days (A Suggested Itinerary From Our Trip)

Christmas in London is a magical experience! This video covers things to do in London at Christmas, such as the best Christmas light displays, festive events like Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, Christmas at Kew Gardens & Hogwarts in the Snow, & of course, Christmas markets.
This video shares how we spent 4 days in London at Christmas (including costs and practical information) so whether you are considering a Christmas trip to London or just want to get in the holiday spirit then I hope you enjoy this video.
We start our London Christmas trip with Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, showing you rides, food and drink, the Magical Ice Kingdom and Cirque Berserk. We follow this with a walk around Christmas lights around Mayfair: Oxford Street, Bond Street, South Molton Street, St Christopher’s Place, Regent Street and Carnaby Street.
Our second day starts at Leadenhall Market and the Sky Garden before walking along the River Thames to two Christmas Markets: Christmas by the River and South Bank Winter Market. We end the night with a visit to the festive light trail, Christmas at Kew Gardens.
Day 3 is spent at the Making of Harry Potter Warner Bros Studio tour, which is extra special in the run up to Christmas due to the seasonal Hogwarts in the Snow takeover. We then visit Covent Gardens for decorations and snow.
Our final day involves a museum visit followed by a cheese conveyor belt restaurant (because Cheese is Christmassy, right?!).

In 2019 I decided that I, a Canadian in Ontario, needed to check out London at Christmas. Im a senior and I typically spend 2 weeks in hostels wandering around London every 2 years but I'd never gone in December. I figured London would do Christmas better than anywhere!!! I wasn't disappointed. From the Great British Christmas Pudding Race at Covent Garden to enjoying warm mince pies whilst watching A Chrismas Carol at The Old Vic, Carols by Candle at St. Martin's at the Field, and a medieval Christmas banquet at St Katherine's Dock. It was all so magical and wonderful! It was so much more than I expected!!

This was a great way more detailed, normalish, this is the type of stuff you can do here video versus the others. You're a good presenter and I hope you keep making videos. I followed. Thanks for the tips and places. I guess as a question.. my son and I are definitely coming there this winter break-- I know it's not ideal but don't want to do it in the summer and can't in the spring or fall yet because of his school and my job. Originally wanted to fly into London then rent a car and travel the UK and see a lot of places outside of London which I find more interesting then maybe spend the last few days in London. That's terrible to do in the winter probably huh? The weather/ temperature isn't a problem.. but it gets dark early so I should do that at a different time? That's why I think we'll just come spend a week in London, as much as I want to see other historical places and small towns more, there's still a lot I want to see in London and it looks amazing at Christmas time. Did I just ask a question then answer it myself? 😂 Bro, it's stresfulllllll. Anyway, your voice is amazing and please keep making videos!

I certainly am still making videos (partway through editing one at the moment), I just don't upload as regularly as most channels as the type of video I realise I enjoy making (ones like this) are pretty time consuming, so fitting it in around work takes a while! As for visiting the UK in winter, you are right that it gets dark earlier. Other things to consider are whether the attractions you want to visit will be open (some close during winter or have reduced opening hours...not an issue in london but depends where else you go), plus if you get unlucky with weather then getting around can be very slow. That being said there will be more christmas lights/markets/activities around so can still be nice. If you are only here a week then a couple of other options are london as a base and do day trips via public transport or do a split stay with another base to limit travel time. It's great that you want to see more of the UK! 🙂 If winter is your only option then I wouldnt rule out exploring further or hiring a car...I would just research opening times/ease of travel etc before deciding. Whatever you decide I hope you have a great trip! Christmas in London is great 😀

I'm just afraid of being on such a strict schedule, driving somewhere with him.. seeing the place and then it being dark 2 hours later and us being in a hotel for a lot of the night. For what it'd cost, it's just like ahhh. I hate his school. Could do summer but really want to see the UK in non peak times. I would not like all the other Americans there haha. You could always decide while you are there if you fancy a couple of day trips, although there will be plenty to keep you entertained in London, especially if you are doing Christmas events along with the regular attractions. Perhaps you will be able to visit the UK in the future at a different time of year to explore more :)

Many shops and attractions are still open on Christmas Eve but not everything, so once you decided where you want to go check in advance in case something you want to visit is closed or has reduced opening hours. Make sure you check public transport too if you're planning on using it as things may stop running earlier on Christmas Eve. As for Christmas Day itself, most things will be closed and public transport not running. I've never been in the centre of London on Xmas Day but I would imagine walking around the quiet streets would be pretty cool. I'm not sure if you're in London for Boxing Day too but again make sure you check opening hours because a lot of things won't be running as normal on Boxing Day either. Not a lot will be open on christmas day. I imagine it could be nice to walk around and see the sights (without going inside) without crowds although never been in the city myself on christmas day. If you want to book somewhere for christmas day lunch then do it well in advance. Also be aware public transport wont be running. If you have flexibility I would visit before the 25th rather than on christmas day itself, but if you are there on the 25th regardless I think you could still turn it into a nice day

We stayed at one of the hub hotels by premiere inn (the goodge street one). We didn't mind the super small size because there's only two of us and we were barely in the room other than for sleep. I thought it was a good price given the location

Hyde park winter wonderland has got terrible press this year where Fairgrounds and their rides and even food outlets have increased their prices 10 fold. Some rides are charging more than £10 per person per ride for just a few minutes Be warned, if you're on a budget stay well away from Hyde Park this Christmas
