I've used the glue mixture forever, especially traditional decoupage no need to use Modgepodge, I've been decoupaging before modpode was created. I also reverse decoupage with the glue mixture. when done correctly i have no issues expect when the paper is black. My projects still come out professional without the modge pode. I do however sometimes use modgepodge for the outer layers or to waterproof

Not sure what you mean by ‘the water transfer method’ but I have successfully used thinned down pva glue (not the school glue type but the type you buy for woodworking) and applied a bunch of thin layers (maybe 5) to a printed picture letting it dry between layers. Glued it to another surface. Let it dry fully again. Then wet and rubbed off the paper until it was smooth and clear and it worked perfectly.

I loved the video. Going to follow the recipe definitely . But I am sorry if i sound kind of confused. I couldn't make sense of the last couple of sentences. 1. It doesn't do the "reverse graphics tranfer". 2. But I use my mod podge to make my signs and do the "reverse technique ". So my question is what is the difference between reverse transfer method and reverse technique for signs etc? Then There's no comparison between a store bought and a home made for quality BUT when I am selling a project or want a really high quality finish on it I use my mod podge. So my question is then which one is better? Homemade or store bought?
@OurUpcycledLife Жыл бұрын
The store-bought mod podge will only work with the transfer method. The homemade will not work. It will only work as a decoupage glue.

I've read that modge podge can work as a sealer as well though, like to coat paintings, or decals and stuff. I'm assuming this homemade recipe wouldn't work for that since it has the powder correct? I assume it would reduce clarity of the image. It seems like the homemade modge podge would be best for things like thickening paints, glue, and to prime canvases, correct? I am trying to find a good paint sealer I can use on poster board, but liquitex & gamisol seem too wet or thick and would warp the board. And acrylic sprays stink to high heavens and I can't use them inside.

Nice tutorial for beginners. You state that real Mod Podge gives a much better quality finish but don’t actually state what that quality is. Does it hold up better over time? Does its appearance look better than the home made? Does it take paint better? What are the qualities that you speak of for Mod Podge which make it superior to home made.
