The beauty of Ireland is otherworldly. Centuries-old architecture chewed up by time and tempest. Lush, lumpy greenery illuminated by shards of light breaching dense clouds and macabre mist. It’s enough to take your breath away - if your attention weren’t already diverted to an even grander spectacle: Waves - wild and spooky, sometimes monstrous but always ephemeral - and the human beings who ride them.

I grew up cutting class .. and everything else .. to surf the north shore of Oahu. I didn't care that I was gonna get grounded .. well, except it meant being outa the water and faaat pits. Ha ha, same here, but on Kaua’i in the 80’s. Kaua’i High is right above Nawiliwili harbor, with a drainer of a break called Amonia’s.
