6:30 Just to add a bit of context, it's not that the modelers went ahead and modeled a face underneath just for the sake of it, it's more likely that these were already existing models that were used as a base for the black mask thugs - hence why they still have a face underneath. On the contrary, Black Mask was a completely unique model, which is why he on the other hand doesn't have a face underneath. The only appearance of black mask without a mask is in cutscenes, meaning he has a model specifically for that. I'm pretty sure most characters have models specifically for cutscenes too, I remember seeing a model zoo and a lot of character models had versions for cutscenes only.
@Mayydayy866 ай бұрын
You fight an unmasked Black Mask during the end of his Most Wanted mission. He definitely has an in-game unmasked model.
@jakelakeyt9 ай бұрын
As a game developer, if a model has a fully modeled part covered up (as in Freeze's eyes) it's because the early script probably included a scene where his glasses where off. Modelling and texturing takes time, and nobody's willing to spend that time if it's not necessary. The initial scripts for videogames are huge with a lot of variables, any finished game has LOTS of cut content

one interesting thing about the Arkham series that most people don't know about is if you get out of bounds and go through certain doors backward you load an entirely different area than what's supposed to be on the other side of the door.

@@Hwarming My current playthrough has had a number of glitches as well, especially physics glitches or enemies glitching during combat (usually to my detriment). And I genuinely think it has some of the worst level design in the series; some sections are incredibly obtuse or unfair. It also has some of the best bosses in the series, and some of the best story moments. It's been a constant cycle of aggravating me to the point of nearly quitting before something so good happens I wanna forget the bad (but I can't).

@mrbrookah41179 ай бұрын
The low res city you showed was called the city LOD, which would extend to a whole city district. Then we had far LODs which were smaller, about the size of a few blocks. The meshes we're made by hand and baked in the editor. Before that it was all the separately and manually placed assets. Getting the revised layout of AC to run was quite a challenge, and much of RS original content had to be optimised!

While defiantly not as good as the other Batman Arkham Games, I actually enjoyed Origins, I'm one of the people that really liked the Detective Mode segments of the other games and wished it was used more. So the fact that it's pretty much the main mechanic of the game, was cool to me. The choice of not using Conroy (RIP) and Hamill was kind of a let down, but being an origin story was forgivable.

Probably the reason why Batman didn't have the cape during the close up shots of Bruce putting on the suit is because the physics of the cape would have thrown it all around the place as the model switched positions for each shot. So they had to get rid of that during the shots.
