I'm guessing the "body blanket" with a more pronounced look is the one they use for the "In Water" ending. When James looks into the backseat, you can just barely see the blanket (it's heavily blurred) but it has the same darker color as the one thats under the map.

1:54 - the theory was indeed that Mary was in the trunk. I believe it was Masahiro Ito who responded to a fan and said "No, she's not in the trunk. She's in the back seat", and then in a play through that Fungo did with Guy Cihi, Guy explained the Japanese murder-suicide concept of Murishinju, which is where someone kills their loved one and then puts their body in the car, then drives themselves and their loved one's body into water. This was what James was intending to do when he went to Silent Hill (before he entered the bathroom and had a psychotic break). The notion of her being in the back seat INSTEAD of the trunk is that it's more respectful to treat them like a passenger than like luggage.

I quickly skimmed, so you might have seen it, but the nightmare streets segment has an completely unused alley (the same you you leave the house into in the beginning), it has different buildings and textures from its normal counterpart, a parking lot and a unfinished alley that seems to lead to an unused clothing store. Even weirder, forcing the game to display both worlds (quite easy to do, just defeat flesh lip without activating the theater and the nighttime transition). The Americana Cafe will have 2 generic character models inside. The Baldwin mansion has collision on its second floor, and a empty door leads to a path straight to laura is on the wall. Nightmare hotel has a few unused rooms on the north east side, second floor, the northeast first floor of the hospital has an unused room and a connection to that hallway, but it's unfinished.

@minmogrovingstrongandhealthyАй бұрын
there are plenty of corpse models of James in the game, just like in the original they reused the same model just retextured it but then again it also is simbolic and on purpose too, since the whole game is James fighting within himself and his own demons and thoughts the town is manifesting what is in his head if they changed that too that would be a no no when it comes to the lore itself or meaning of this whole game really Corpses on the streets, rooms, holes, the ones Eddy shot its all James just retextured and edited slightly. The corpse Eddy shot in the Remake they didnt even bother to change the hair, it's the same hair James have. Oddly too they didnt take into consideration of the actual gravity, hair would not "sit" that way but rather fold over. That is why in the OG corpses rather have grimy dirty glued in hair because that is what it would be like. Blood is like glue and dry up fast glues into place everything it touches. Its really sad that an 30 old game still manage to be more realistic then wtf they make today with all the "pretty graphics" agenda going on and tools they have ...

Actually the team that made the PS3/X360 port, received an unfinished source code of the game (few months before release). Because Konami management no one knows why, deleted every game source code after release. So one of the developers had an earlier copy of the source code on his hdd, and he sent it to the remaster team. Plenty of textures, FXs, final polishes not completed in this version, so the remaster team had to redo these assets again, but they had a strict deadline and missed some of them, or in some places they made a low effort work, like the comic sans sign.

That's what they sent. That's why the hd collection have unfinished textures, and e.g. missing fog on the boat section.

Dev cubes from my experience are usually used as a reference point to know where to position other objects or to align things. If you work in a large world, make a dev cube. Then you can adjust individual models without messing with the rest of the world. Just leave the dev cube in and when updating the map just export the adjusted model and the dev cube only. 2:30 I am sure someone has commented about this already but for years, Ito Masahiro has been saying that James would never put Mary's body in the trunk and that she was in the backseat. Also, eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the flowers on the blanket are Forget Me Nots. I also LOVE that Bloober put their photos in the historical society as a cheeky little reference to the OG where the KCET team were featured as the Historical Society founders. Also the fact that the entire SH2R team posed in a pyramid shape

The sign gag is wonderful. Glad they can laugh at themselves. 6:!0 um.... i don't think that's blood.. unless it's like, blood around everywhere BUT his mouth.. Nice video my man. just FYI, to 'jettison' is to toss something off the ship. I think the word you're looking for is 'jut'. like it's jutting out.

In New Game +, if you look into the car - which you can when grabbing the map of the Observatory Deck, you can see the model of possibly Mary's body in the back of the car. The one you found beneath the ground. There's so much beautiful details that they indulged in this Remake. Thank you for covering this game!

UUU has been priceless for showcasing these UE5 games. So much love for that dev. Thanks for showing this stuff! I was wondering what all was there, but I don't have SH2 remake.

I know I'm late but I found another dev cube for you. After meeting Angela in in Rosewater park, if you go to the double garage door to the right of the hotels with the save station, you can walk up to the garage door, turn around, and walk backwards through it. If you turn back around some houses will load in. If you go to the right and look out past the house on the right there's a cube there for ya :)
@Xaymar19 күн бұрын
In Unreal Engine, dev cubes are usually just a mapper wanting to group something together. Could be the rain effects, could be the parent object of the fog bounds, etc. They're just the default cube object.
@Xaymar19 күн бұрын
You're also not just turning off the HUD, you're tiring off all 2D UI rendering. That's why the map shows up as blank when you do that.
@casedistorted28 күн бұрын
huh, that HUD and map reveal was the most interesting part to me! I can't remember ever seeing that done before 16:00 the best thing would have been to show a little PiP video box in the corner of what the game cutscene looks like, compared to you noclipping into the toilet and holes. That would have been super cool

glad they did the fog correctly in this version as in the sh1 remake the fog was pretty much absent (or so see-through that it removed all ambient spookiness) pretty sure they hid the comic sans version of the sign on purpose for boundary breakers and as a easter egg😅

When Laura jumps over the wall and freezes mid air, it’s not that they didn’t use all the motion capture they had, more so that the wall would have been a lot shorter in the studio. She’s probably crouching on the ground.

As a dev I usually drop a default 1m X 1m cube just to compare object scales to it, to ensure no objects are off scale. I suspect that’s what that one is for too
