The trouble is the Good Samaritan ends up the criminal these days. Anyone that lays a finger on that child’s or even yells at them they’d be charged with something. And times are different. A mother in GA was arrested the other week cause she let her 11 yo kid walk around unsupervised. Some Karen called it in! Ridiculous. As at 11 we were playing outside alone for hours! So it doesn’t pay to intervene if it’s not someone you know!!

@ca8944 I work for the salvation Army and have previously worked for a charity called Lighthouse driving a refrigerator panel truck to pick up donations. We deal with mostly small time mom and pop markets who do not want their past date items to go to waste. I had my regulars who I picked up from each week or two, and I had folks who would call out of the blue, like big cookouts or pot lucks that had lots of food left over. Giving food to charity is as simple as picking up the phone and waiting for pick up

We also had our reach people who would go to businesses who were not known to donate, they had a stack of copies of the federal law that gives absolute immunity to all donators of food in all situations. It is the legal responsibility of the people who receive the food to ensure with their own judgement that the food they receive is still fit for consumption
