Totally agree. The philosophical and spiritual exploration in the book is both profound and subtle. Great read.

I am starting to read Perelandra today. I had to get some other reading off my plate so that I could just concentrate on this book.

Wow! I didn't know C.S.Lewis had written a space series!! I have to check this out!

I hope you enjoy it! Like so many of Lewis' writing, it's one of those series that you can read over and over again, and find something new in it every time.

I loved your enthusiasm. I am reading the trilogy now and I am really enjoying it. This is my first CS Lewis book and I am really impressed by the way he writes. Thank you.

I wish there was more artwork of this series.

Ransom was based on Tolkien, Lewis' friend at the time. Those philologists....

It seemed that CS Lewis may have been dunking on Tolkien at the end of the book when Ransom complained that the publishers wanted to edit out the Martian glossary

Read these many years ago. My impression (I could be wrong) is that the third volume, That Hideous Strength, was the least popular in the trilogy. It was my favorite of the three. : ) While many Lewis passages from many books are among the most meaningful I've met with as a reader, my two most cherished CSL books are Surprised by Joy and A Grief Observed.

I love this trilogy. Perelandra is one of my all time favorite books.

Hooray! I think my favorite book of the trilogy is this first one, but who knows? My opinion might change as I reread the next books.

I always loved the Space Trilogy about as much as the Narnia books. Today’s science fiction does not usually offer the depth of these books. I like the older science fiction much better than today’s. Lewis’s books compare well with H.G. Wells and Jules Verne. Lewis of course does more with the morality with his Christian views, but all of these fantasy authors are well worth reading and rereading. I will try to get on the ReadAlong on my computer since I am not sure if it works on my I-pad. I’m sure it’s well worth watching. :)

This book was an absolute blast to read, and I loved the way you analyzed all the different themes in the book! I also agree with a lot of the things you presented in the video too.

I read Out of the Silent Planet by C S Lewis when I was in high school. I remembered enjoying it:-) I never did finish the series back then but this gives me a great excuse to jump back into it while theirs a read a long! I just finished rereading L M Montgomery’s Emily Starr Trilogy. It made me wish that she had wrote another book after Emily’s Quest. The first time I read the series I really thought Emily should have ended up with Perry xD He’s just so adorable-- I mean when going back to reread it I understand why she ends up with Teddy and it makes sense because they do have a lot in common. But Perry just has more personality, and he’s relatable and has a certain charm about him xD

I just filmed a review of the Emily trilogy! It should go up next week. I also wish that Montgomery has written more Emily books! I think her story could have been more fulfilling with at least one more book.

I’m so excited to see your video! You inspired me to reread them again! And I was getting that craving to read L M Montgomery. It’s like chocolate. Once you eat one you’re ready to devour another one xD And of course you’ve inspired me to pick up the Space Trilogy by C S Lewis :-) It’ll be fun to reread the first book again-to see how much I remember ;-)

I think it all has to do with expectations. The whole Space Trilogy is so unlike most of Lewis' other writing, so it throws people off when they first read it.

Ya soft Syfy. But it is an amazing Trilogy. Besides the Science part was just underpinning for Lewis theology. You should checkout Lewis other book The Great Divorce.
