On this adventure I went to Kings canyon to hunt for big fish in the Kings river. 1 big Pike Minnow and 2 Rainbows. Almost stepped on a rattle snake and had a bear encounter. What a great trip.

Thank you for posting this vid with somewhat specific locations. I am a local guy who has been skunked more often than not, and at this point just desperate to find something with gills. I don't keep fish, kill fish, or leave trash. Others will say "oh you ruined our secret spot!" but they are delusional.

In the fall of 1984 me and a friend chartered a helicopter and flew us several miles up the middle fork of the kings river, dropped us off and picked us up 8 days later. Incredible fishing experience. We literally caught hundreds of trout, (released almost all of them of course). I caught a 23" rainbow. Back then you could keep 2 a day. We made it downstream to tombstone creek camped there for three nights. Saw 6 rattlesnakes and two bears. A trip ill always remember.

Sounds awesome, I have been wanting to do some helicopter trips. Similar plan, helicopter in and walk out.

Thanks for sharing this video. That section is my bucket list to fish. Do you fish streamer mostly in the river?

I did mostly use streamers. However i was chasing large fish. I would have caught more if I used nymphs.

In the fall I think. The water seems to stay fishable in Kings canyon most of the time. Check dream flows for current conditions. It's a rafting site but has water levels for most California rivers

We have a family tradition goes back to 1930 with my grandpa and my uncle. The first time I went with my 65 yr. Old grandpa.and bro. And 2 cousins . My Nana dropped us off at the yucca trailhead. We took small backpacks w/tent , sleeping bag ect .potatoes frying pan ect. Each had a pool air mattress. We hiked and floated and fished trough the mighty kings river gorge ( 2nd deepest gorge in ca.) Unreal trip !alot of places sheer rock walls surrounding insane pools of the most beautiful icy water. And rainbow trout of unparalleled power to weight and incredible color .we spent one night in the gorge on a patch of sand just barely big enough for our one man tents.we caught and released 188 sticks of dynamite and dined on two each twice with fried potatoes and red onion, incredible we foated fished and hiked at a real clip. A came down to the ranger station before pin bridge where my Nana waited in the suburban. Since then my boys and I and my dad have done it 5 more times .the mighty kings is no joke ! This trip takes grit and guts and mental and physical strength. But it is the ultimate trip .sharing this experience with my boys and grandsons is priceless. We have a rattlesnake skin 5'9" with 14 rattles and have caught some 5 6 and 7 lb. German browns and a number of 18 to 22 inch rainbows seen huge red fox numerous bears 2 mountain lions ect.

That sounds truly epic. It's awesome that you take your kids out and share our wonderful world with them. And pool air mattresses are about as sketchy a float as I can think of. That takes some guts. Good on you! Thanks

Why did you have to give the location for this spot. Do you really need the attention, do you really want more traffic. I just don't understand people like you. Anyways, glad you had fun.

Dude don't put the squawfish back they're not good for the river systems they eat all the good fish while also not being good table fare or even putting up a battle.

While I agree with you on all these points. I have a problem with killing native species. Its a tough choice.

Bummer. This video explains the added traffic on that section of river last year. Great video but you don’t need to be telling people where to go.

Hard to disagree. 2019 was the first year I found worm buckets there.

With 2500 over 3 years I hardly think this is what's responsible for increased traffic.

@@TroutWest You are wrong. 100 people go there, then tell their friends, and the rest is history. Fishing videos are fun, but there is no need to disclose the location to complete strangers.
