That is a very handy piece of advise Brendan, and a good heads up for folk that don't realise that cast iron can break. Thanks for sharing, cheers, Bram.

Great tip Brendan and welcome back. More videos please. I know you've had a lot on in recent months. I hope things are settling down for you now. Best wishes, Alan.

+Alan Simpson Thanks Alan, I've been really busy out here but it's all been boring (literally)... I've been drilling pen blanks and prepping wood for projects so not worth filming. However, I have a few short videos coming up that I will make as I do the more interesting pen stuff. I hope your own turning is spinning along. Best Wishes, Brendan.

+Mike Waldt Thanks Mike, I was turning outboard for the first time when I made the dust cyclone and noticed the banjo and tool rest flexing very slightly so decided it might be worth doing something about it. I don't often learn before the event. Best Wishes, Brendan.

GREAT TIP!!! I really appreciate you sharing this! In fact, I will modify that idea with Steel. I'll share it when I complete it! Have A Super Week!..... Gus

Thanks Gus, steel would be a super material for this but I went with timber because most of us always have a length of it lying around. Best Wishes, Brendan.

A very handy tip Brendan, something I must admit I hadn't thought of. presumably it cuts down on tool chatter as well, by giving a more sturdy support for the tool rest?CheersJohnny
@bmacwoodturning20358 жыл бұрын
+John Cornell I imagine it does because I didn't get any after I put the support in. Saying that, it wasn't bad before so but having the support definitely made things a lot more stable.

Great bit of advice Brendan. Thanks for sharing. Take care my friend and do a kindness Mark

+MARK Baid Thanks Mark. I'm working hard today to get a bowl ready for Saturday and a 60th birthday party so I've just got the carving in Ogham runes (Irish runes) done after much sweating. This is a one-chance job. Now I have the piece back on the lathe and am going to take the guts out. I am going to leave the base fairly thick because I went through one of these bowls before and I don't have time to do another. Best Wishes, Brendan.

I remember turning a bowl in school, And i set everything up except tighten the plate at the back of the bowl, The teacher who's name was Mr Dent turned the lathe on, You can imagine what happened next, The bowl shout off the plate and give him a big dent in his head, At this point i legged it lol

+Mark Davidson I think I would have got offside too. Maybe you should get a lathe and see how you get on with it now?

Wish someone had made me aware of this 5 year ago Brendon. Cost about £30 to replace the broken one. Take care Regards Glyn Ps just started turning again on this channel 😃

+Ting's Turning's Thanks Glyn, I'll nip over and see if I'm still subbed. Sometimes KZbin has stopped some of my subscriptions and I get no video alerts. I haven't had one from you in ages. I'll sort that out now. Best Wishes, Brendan.
