Hi, Just bought one of these and setting it up for the first time. Fairly simple, except for figuring out right pressure to pump to. I tried using the supplied scale, but to get 10 cm to line up with 10 cm, the kayak is practically deflated, and to get 11cm to line up with 10cm as shown in the instructions, still feels fairly soft. Not having ever had one of these before, it's hard to know by feel "what feels right". Any chance you could pop out a quick video just showing using the scale, or the thumb deflection method you talked about (I think) what we are looking for for proper inflation. I don't want to pop a seam before I even get to use it. Thanks.

My wife picked up a couple of these used. Two for the price of one! Took it out last weekend and was pretty happy with it. I'm a little over the max weight so I sat kind of low in it. Good excuse to lose a few pounds!. The biggest issue I have is the Number 1 inflate valve position is very awkward to get at. By the time I got the plug in I had lost too much air. Eventually got it but it seems to be a bit of a two person job. As far as spinning goes, I found I just had to ease up on the stroke force a bit, but still had a couple of misfires that set me off course. Overall it gets you in the water!

Very good detailed review. I found your video from a link on Canadian Tire website. Went out and bought a couple of these and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised considering the price. It looked like in your video you were seated in it backwards. I believe the valvestem in the upper ring is supposed to be behind you. That way the skeg points toward the rear.

Thanks for the review. I bought one yesterday and tried it out. My sister tried it out (newbie paddler) and she basically just spun in circles and got super frustrated. I put her on my iSUP (which she excelled on) and I tried the outbound kayak. I have extensive experience with a hard shell kayak and found the outbound kayak hard to keep straight. I couldn't paddle with my regular stroke because it would cause me to turn left or right too much, but if I kept short and shallow strokes I was able to keep it going fairly straight at the expense of forward speed. I was on a small lake with zero winds and no waves (lake was like glass) so it was perfect conditions. While I was inflating it I had high hopes as it looked better then I expected, but the actual experience left me never wanting to use this again. Unfortunately I'll be returning it today

I can keep it in a straight line quite easily but the skeg is way to small and it certainly does spin if you let it

🇨🇦💖 please let me know what you think of this! I bought one today at Canadian Tire on the last few hours of the sale, for $180. I'm a 63-year-old overweight woman who used to be very active at all kinds of outdoor activities. I am also very handy and creative so, I think there must be a way to modify the skeg and also make the front of the kayak more water Worthy. The skeg might be easier but I'm still pondering something like a sleeve over the front of the kayak that would definitely not rub or create drag, but be a secure enough to cut through the water. I have all kinds of ideas but let me know what you think please and thank you.😁🇨🇦💖🐻🌏

Hi Tim ...you will have a blast Im sure ....One tip the parts you get there is a blue triangular shaped cushion thing its the bit you are not quite sure what to do with ... it goes in the front of the boat (bow) sharp end in ...shove it right forward until it gets no more then get in the boat. Here is the thing your legs need to be pushing comfortably against it keep pushing it forward that gives you a solid bow ...dont let it flip between your legs as it will want to hug you push it down and forward plus it helps your paddling watch my paddling video on the channel if your feet dont reach then stiff a dry pack back pack down anything until your knees are slightly bent and your pushing that cushion into the bow .....makes paddling 90% easier ....good luck my friend you will have a blast

Super appreciate this video! I recently bought this kayak and I’ve sent this to a few other people who are considering it. Curious if you could address the ruler that indicates pressure and now to read it.
@thetramblingman4633 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the feed back Cajbjaz very much appreciated As for the ruler I have never really used it. It measures the stretch of the plastic to gauge pressure. I find the problem with that approach is sun and a hot day for when you blow it up. half an hour in heat and the air expands further. I just inflate the tubes until they are firm ( you cant easily press in a dimple) and leave it at that. I think there is a danger of over inflation with this boat which could rip open a seal so I go with feel ....Hope that helps

I've been looking at buying one of these for a bit now and decided to watch a few videos on it. I'm curious, how do you gauge the air pressure? I don't want to pop it but from what I've read the instructions leave It looking deflated at their suggested amount.

thank you, this video was very informative for me however I'm in need for a video to pack the kayak after use it, it was too difficult to take out the air 😀
@thetramblingman4633 жыл бұрын
will do a video in a few weeks... the thing to remember is time ....Its a thing that is difficult to just get out the water and deflate it. Whats best is to use the deflate port on the pump to get the air out of the floor and seat. Pop the valves open on the sides then gently roll the boat up from the back to the middle then unroll it. Go to the front and do the same continue this a few times and the air is gone allowing you to fully deflate and pop it in the bag ....In short you have to push all the air out the chambers and tease it all out

@elliottmcfadden62613 жыл бұрын
I think this might be a generic design that different companies can brand. I got the exact same kayak in a different color under a brand called Bestway at a regional sports equipment store in the States. I’ve also tried the Intex K1, and I think this one is way more comfortable, especially for a taller person. It’s not quite as fast feeling and the storage nets are laughably small compared to the K1, but I’m happier with this one because of the comfort. You don’t get an entry level 1-person inflatable kayak to race or do multi-day camping, so I’m fine with these limitations. I’d rather be more comfortable paddling around a lake or river.

Thanks for the review! I was looking at getting either this Outbound or the K1 Challenger. I would be using it for fishing. Which one is lighter/packs smaller? I saw some people paddling the K1 Challenger double version on the ocean here and into the wind. They weren't ripping but it seemed to work pretty well.
@thetramblingman4633 жыл бұрын
Hi Ron I think the Outbound is way better for fishing as there is more room in it. The Challenger K1 is cramped around your feet However the K2 would be perfect for gear ....When I get back home I have the K2 to review which I will do purely from a kit carrying aspect but if you want an easy cheap kayak the Outbound is pretty decent
@thetramblingman4633 жыл бұрын
I think they pack roughly the same ...Problem with the K1 is getting all the air out of it so it packs small but can be achieved buying a better 2 stage pump with inflate deflate ...they both pack to roughly the same size K1 is probably a little heavier but not by much

I bought one after reviewing your video from Canadian Tire website. Somehow I couldn't figure out how to use the hand pump to inflate it. It looks so easy for you did it. But when I tried, the hose doesn't go in to the valve and no air goes in. Not sure if I need to use those adapters. Would you please illustrate a bit more? Thanks in advance.
@thetramblingman4633 жыл бұрын
....Chambers 1 and 3 will take either of the adapters fitting on the end of the air pump but better to blow a little air in from your mouth first as the plastic often sticks together at time of manufacture so this may be causing air not to go in Chamber 2 is a different valve and has 2 pieces. 1 the cap 2 the actual valve and 3 the part that is molded into the boat ..place it all together then pop off part A exposing the valve ...when air is blown in the valve then closes and will not come back out ....Just ust the end of the air pump hose (no adapters) it will fit straight into the valve housing

@thetramblingman4633 жыл бұрын
Hi Jennifer Ok the paddle comes in sections 1 left paddle with small pole 2 center part which is just the pole 3 right paddle two black things that look like small weights all slot together to make the paddle then both ends of the black part twist and as they tighten you will find that they lock the paddles into place hold the paddle in front of you arms bent like the position you will be in the kayak I have the left paddle as you look forward the paddle sits flat part facing to the ceiling( the part where it slides on the pole is underneath) then the right side the flat part of the paddle is facing you So right paddle you look at the flat part and left paddle flat part faces the ceiling and you are looking at the blade (side) lock all four twists on the black handle parts firmly closed and thats your paddle It feels odd at first but basically as you paddle and practice on dry land first their is a twist letting the paddle naturally turn in your hands so the wet side of the paddle (the one entering the water) is facing you then pull the stroke and as the paddle comes out the water you allow the twist again until the opposite paddle now faces you and becomes the wet side for the next stroke pull through If you get it wrong then simply the boat does not go anywhere so dont worry it will only move through the water when you pull the paddle through its a smooth operation with that continual twist that allows a brief rest for your muscle before the next stroke If you have both paddles facing the same way then its way more effort on your arms ...this way is more ergonomic...Hope this answers your question What I will do shortly is pop a quick video together for you ....its easy once you get the idea and once you have paddled through done it 200 times you don't have to even think about it ....Have fun
