I'm having a lot of fun with this so far, even to the point I go to bed a lot later than I was planning on because time goes by so fast while playing. I even like the parkour quests and normally I hate that kind of thing.

I'm the same with staying up late, lol. Still hate the parlour quests, though. Glad your having fun with it. Enjoy! Oh & let us know if you finish it. 😁

The first Outcast was really an eye-opener for me. They did many things differently from other games. First of all, it ran on ony decent (for the time) CPU, because its voxel-engine didn't require a GPU. Instead of saving from a menu, you were given a "gamesav" chrystal from the Yods in the beginning of the game. And you could ask anyone in the world for the location of another Talan and they would either point in the direction (if they were near), or tell you were they last seen them. Finally, the first game had an amazing story, involving time-travel. Something you didn't even figure out, until the last third of the game. And it was convincing and amazing. One of the games were you felt you made discoveries about the world and story at the same time the protagonist did. And not being spoonfed or taught through endless exposition. It was the greatest game I had played for a long time, but these days we have games like Baldur's Gate 3, which take the formula to another level. Outcast 2 feels dated in the way the storyline unfolds. However that is not a bad thing, because it pays hommage to the original and story is more important in Outcast than in most games. Even though it may look like a simple villain arch, I am sure there will be some surprises towards the end.

Thanks for the insight, bro. This is very interesting stuff as I'd never played the original game due to not ever owning a PC until the early naughties, but I never was a PC gamer, so I think I missed out there. The story of the one you played sounds like it's very well laid out & cleverly implemented. Thanks for sharing this with me. Happy gaming, fratello! 🙂

This game is great. Just pure old school fun. Gunplay and platforming reminds me of PS2 Ratchet and Clank. I'm really glad I took a chance on it. I got it on PS5 after a few patches, there are some issues at times but nothing game breaking. Nice video.

Thanks for the compliment, mate. Glad you're enjoying the game & you're spot on about the old school gameplay. I bought this after playing the demo. 😁🎮👍

Fantastic review (because I agree and it was done perfectly and better than most bigger gaming sites out there). So glad I found someone closer to my own age who like games and can articulate what works and what doesn't. This game is fantastic, but I agree with you on the jank and those pesky parkour sequences. They took the original and improved it in so many ways (no voxels this time around thankfully). Subscribed for more! Cheers!

Thanks so much for your kind words, bro. This means a lot to me, as I want to convey the good & bad of all games. It's a shame I can't get free review copies from devs - I asked, but they said my channels are too small - so I have to buy the new releases, so it may take a little time. Gotta try Dragon's Dogma 2 next! 😁

Yeah I am enjoying it main reason I think is it’s very unpredictable isn’t it you don’t know what you are going to run into or where it’s going to come from and it has huge variety of enemies from what I’ve played so far. it’s rare these days to have some original ideas and not just the same enemies copied and pasted all over a open world map.
@gamerslounge6710 ай бұрын
You're spot on about the unpredictability of the game. I'm glad the devs took the time to populate the vast world with such a great variety of enemies! 😁

This game is the very definition of AA jank. It harkens back to the days of simple pure fun that is imo sorely missing in modern big budget games. It almost feels like a handcrafted open world map.... instead of a copy paste gigantic map that is farted out by a big developer. The only issue I have with the game is the horrible performance where the fps jumps all over the place from 90+ down to mid 30's. No way this game should behave in such a wonky manner on a 3060ti...and that too on 1080p/high. Even twiddling with the settings and turning on dlss hardly does anything to improve the performance. Th developers need to patch the game wrt performance ASAP.....else this gem will be forgotten within a short time.
@gamerslounge6710 ай бұрын
Very good way of putting it. TBH, I've had very few performance issues on the PS5 as of yet, but I do come across the odd frame dip. The bigger glitch for me, which didn't rear its ugly head at the time I reviewed it, is in the sound. It goes drastically downhill during more intense shooting sections, & distorts to the point if sounding garbled, even slowing the so7ndtrack down - like playing a 45rpm record at 33rpm. Shame but it's had 2 patches, so let's see if that helps.

"Some opponents you HAVE to hit with a melee attack" That's gonna be a big fuck no from me.
@gamerslounge6710 ай бұрын
Actually, so far, it's only been a plant thing that needed a melee attack. The rest can eat your bullets! 🤣
@Gallilee10 ай бұрын
Only one plant and one enemy I've met so far with shields that needs to be meleed, goes down in one hit though so it's no biggie

In a way there are, but not that your character can keep & pet. There are animals that npc characters keep & breed.
