Engineered hardwood is an excellent mid price point between LVP & solid hardwood floors.

White kitchens are classic and will absolutely never go out of style!
@nataliakaylin3 ай бұрын
@@SM-qh2mz Agree! The shape and style of the cabinets will change but shades of white will stay. However, because there were too many white kitchens in the last two decades, natural wood cabinets especially in combination with white will be coming more and more. I think a combination of white with wood is very pleasing and timeless as well.

I totally agree with all points! The small horizontal kitchen backsplashes look so busy and outdated to me. Also extending the ceiling, 'boob lights' are an outdated/builder choice that can easily be updated to something stylish and fun. We've updated most everything in this new home from 5 years ago. My last want, not a need, is to update just a little bit the kitchen remodel from 2001. I like the white cabinets but not the door fronts nor the crown molding that renders traditional. I'd like flat fronts and flat crown molding or even a soffit installed above them - I fear the kitchen may appear smaller with a soffit. We're so blessed to have an almost 2x larger kitchen I move slowly to not mess it up!!
@nataliakaylin3 ай бұрын
Yes, large kitchen feels like a blessing to me too. Totally in line with you about crown moldings and flat doors. I would not recommend installing a soffit. I had it years ago and the kitchen looked so much better after I removed it. Soffit is an older feature. A contemporary looking crown molding, straight and not too wide is probably the best option. I will be looking at those soo myself :)

Hi Natalia! Great content and I also love your accent. I agree about wood beams and wooden panels ONLY if they're from synthetic wood (I heard those fake wooden beams are actually foam!). But if they're from real wood and are the original features of the house, I suggest everyone to keep them. They give out strong personalities which you're going to regret later if you take them out and replace them with more trendy but soulless trends

I just updated a few major pieces of my kitchen. I did it very affordably, snagging pieces of my plan over the years and storing them in my back closet. Still more to go with those popcorn ceilings but, I do really appreciate these videos. And if we love a feature, we save it! I’m artistic, more than trendy.

I loved the white kitchen you showed with the granite. I personally love the look of granite regardless of the kitchen though not so much the very black granite and as warmer browns and lighter granites. Also like tile backsplashes and want to do a tile backsplash of some sort but I don’t want it too outlandish just pretty and I have a couple ideas. I’m doing plain subway tile in my bathroom and want to break it up with some earthy, warm glass tiles through it. As for the LVP, it does feel different from wood which would have been my preference but not our budget though not to me unpleasant. I did choose a grey I really thought pretty for our new mudroom as it got flooring before everything else which does have blue pine tongue and groove but a warm golden oak color for the rest of the house which we are working on bit by bit. The vpf is a 100% improvement over our very unhealthy old carpets touching on the last portion of your video. You don’t want to know the horrors we found that we were breathing was thing in constantly.

Hi Natalia, I just moved into a new house. We removed the popcorn ceilings. That process is very expensive and extremely messy. I wished I had known I might have selected a different house. I definitely agree that the design choices tell you a lot about the previous inhabitants. Unfortunately I have a bad impression and it’s making the move in process slow and emotionally draining. I want to clear out all that negative energy and bring more joy into this home.

Thank you for sharing this. It's really good to know about popcorn ceilings. I suspected this myself. Sending all the best wishes to you and your new home! I really like designs on ceilings (not popcorn). Give me tray ceilings, coffered ceilings, mullions, medallions, at the very LEAST a distinctive crown molding -- anything to add a little interest up there. I think plain smooth ceilings are boring. Also, LVP comes in lots of colors and lots of qualities; all LVP is not created equal. I suspect builders use the cheap crappy stuff, but you can get a beautiful LVP -- okay, it's not as pretty as wood, but it's waterproof, kid proof and dog proof and frankly it's a lot prettier than wood that's all scratched up and buckling due to water damage. Everything else I agree with.

I for one am so happy that white kitchens are finally on their way out. I confess I had one too but I also had a dark blue and white, a three colour kitchen (white, black and light/medium stain wood) and am putting in a new kitchen in a new build now and it will be a light taupe and medium/dark wood stain . I would love to do a painted green kitchen in our mountain house. I think the colour and design is more permanent according to where you live.

Just use whatever style you want regardless of it being in fashion or not. I have an all white kitchen and it looks clean and fresh. I also have popcorn ceilings that can’t be scraped because it’s hard vermiculite. They are painted in a white simi gloss and actually look very nice and clean. I don’t care about style because we all know styles come and go and then come back. Just like gold fixtures and h hardware went out of style 20 years ago and are now back in style.

The 'outdated' homes that you perceive as undesirable today were not carried out well to begin with, at the time they were built when this style was popular. These are mainly builder grade homes or they were decorated by homeowners who followed a trend and did not have a talent for design. Homes from the early 2000ds and earlier that were professionally and tastefully designed still look great. I have a friend whose house is decorated in the style that was popular in the early 2000ds and it looks gorgeous. She worked in a design related profession. Also the early HGTV homes still look good today.
