Some notes: - I didn't show it (read: I'm an idiot), but you need to delete the controller you created at 14:20, as well as set the Animator component on your avatar to 'None'. - Write Defaults shouldn't cause an issue if you leave them on, at least for this use case. Whatever way works for you, use it. - The reason the audio range bubble wasn't visible @ the 13:20 mark was because I didn't have 'Gizmos' enabled. - I'm sure I missed some other things, I'll edit this if I notice anything else.

I went into avatar stuff pretty blind, but I was making great progress resorting to tutorials and trial+error, but I was wracking my brain on how to have the music play but not when entering a world, but when I turned off the "play when awake" option, it would no longer play. I didn't realize it was so simple as to just toggle the asset itself off when attached to the scene; thank you! The VRC subreddit is surprisingly stingy and seemingly uncooperative when it comes to giving some advice for things, so I appreciate even these tutorials that cover such minute details that appear to be inconsequential to someone who knows what they're doing.

Thank you! I'm also a stupid idiot and it was great to hear someone explain it in a way that was on my level. During this, I thought I broke my avatar at least half a dozen times due to misclicking something or doing something a bit wrong, but miraculously, eventually, it worked and nothing's broken! (My 2 mistakes before it worked; Having accidentally left a final keyframe on the animation recording time line, at the end... As well as accidentally having had a wrong parameter set in one of the drop-down selection thingies...)

I followed your steps exactly for making the audio, but it instead just plays the audio as soon as the scene is started. I saw you added to delete the 14:20 controller, which I tried, and that just made it not work at all.

Here's some things to try: - Ensure that it's the audio game object itself that's disabled and not the Audio Source component on the game object - Make sure your AudioSwitch layer's weight is set to 1 - In the Audio Source component, ensure that 'Play on Awake' is checked - Check your enable/disable animations and make sure they're set correctly - Click on your avatar in the hierarchy, then find the Animator component in the inspector window. Ensure that you don't have an animation controller set in the Animator component

Amazing video , just a bit problem for me , when i go for the Parameter in 9:22 i only have "none" i cant choose anything, do you have an idea where it could came from?

-Ensure that you have the Expressions Parameters file set in your Avatar Descriptor. [7:46] - Ensure that you have the 'VRCEmote' parameter in your Expressions Parameters file. [6:20]

Yo, I am trying to add another animation with audio, and I am using the NoAudio animation with both in the animator window setup exactly like the other, the first one works fine and the audio turns off then untoggled, but the second one does not turn the audio off, any idea why this might be happening? thanks a lot!

Never mind, I was just stupid and forgot to animate the audio turning off on the No Audio animation. Thanks so much for this tutorial though!

• Ensure that the audio source game object is disabled whenever VRCEmote is not equal to the correct integer value. • Ensure that the Audio Source component has Play On Awake checked. • Ensure your audio switch has the same transition duration time as your emote animation within the Action controller.

I know the chances of you responding to me are bare minimum, but good video. I only have one issue, and that issue is that I don't know how to make a second emote. I am able to successfully do a working emote but when I want to add another one I just get confused on how to go about it.

Ensure that your Expressions Parameters list is set in your VRC Avatar Descriptor. Should be around the 7:30 Mark

Be sure to set the transition from the audio enable animation to AudioOff whenever VRCEmote is not equal to the integer value of the emote. [@19:51]

Hey, nice video, managed to get it to work after failing on another tutorial, but theres just one problem, the animation freezes on its last frame, after the animation plays, instead of it going back to idle it just stays in the last frame, I made sure the animations "loop time" was unmarked, been at this for a long time, hope someone helps :(

Managed to fix it, what you need to do for non-looping animations is: First disable "loop time". Second: when you make a transtion from the animation to the blend, enable "has end time", set it to the when you want the animation to end(1 plays it to the end) and make sure to NOT add a condition, next when creating the menu, choose button, instead of toggle, now everytime you click the button, the animation plays and since you set to "has end time" instead of a exit condition it will play till the end and go back to idle :) make sure not to add a contition since the button will return to 0 after you click it, ending the animation early, hope this helps someone
