I love this tutorial, best part was watching you go to the store. This made my shopping trip so much easier. I was able to find all the items at Home Depot. I made this balloon arch and used it for the first time this past weekend. It was so easy to put together and put up. My balloon arch looked amazing and held up in the wind. Thank you!!

These are Qualatex balloons. They are super squishy and underinflated- I'm using 11" balloons and sizing to only about 8" so they're pretty resilient.

It's approx 25' linear. The height and width depends on how far apart you set the legs. Basically it's your standard double doorway size :~)

yes, always. I charge a separate set up/ tear down fee to cover that part of the service, but it's not optional, we always tear down our own jobs. :-)

I believe you can go up to 50', but having said that, I've never done more than 35' simply because I haven't had a client with the need for it longer. :~)

@@SandiMasoriPresents Hi Sandi! We actually did make a 50-foot outdoor arch (total length). We used your model as a starting point and took it from there. We used 10-foot tall heavy steel poles screwed into our custom bases and base plates because the client needed at least a 12-foot clearance for trucks to drive through. I believe we used a combination of PVC widths with a some sections being 1-inch with part of the middle being 1 1/4 inches (most of the five PVC sections were 3/4 inch). I have photos I can send. The arch was a little flat, but the height ended up being well over 15-feet with a 30-foot width. I should have taken better notes, but, we were working in the middle of the night. It was hard work.

When they're that underinflated they're generally pretty resilient. For my regular columns I inflate to 8.5" but for outdoor work I inflate only to approx 8". :~)

This is such great information. Thanks for the measurements and parts list! Any modifications to be aware of if this is riding on a parade float? Obviously it won't be going very fast, but if there are gusts of wind, etc. it might get a little tilty even with water weights or weight plates on the supports.

Sandy, i want to make this arch but i don't need it so large, I'm looking to do maybe a 12 to 15 foot arch how do I break down the PVC - two pieces of 8 1/2" with bell cut off on one? Yes, I always go back to strike (tear down) the jobs. Besides wanting to reclaim my frames, I also want to make sure that everything is properly disposed of, and that we're not leaving a mess for the venue to deal with :~)

I have a few suppliers that I use, but it's best to use the one closest to you so you can get your balloons faster. To find out where your closest distributors are, visit the manufacturer websites. I charge around $425, but pricing is a complicated issue, and my price may not have any relation to the right price for you to charge. You need to know your material costs, your overhead, labor and profit to come up with the right price for you :-)

I have heard that Tuf-tex holds up the best outdoors, but I have not tested that theory, I mostly use Qualatex as that's what I can get locally :~)
