You can preserve magnolia stems by soaking them in a vase of Sprite overnight. They will absorb the sugars and that keeps the plant fresh longer.

Man , that most probably flipped over before you finished it. You need dirt inside to give moisture to the branches and to give weight to the urn....also, why did not you finish with embelishing it with bow or ornaments???
