You can also apply silicon seal where water and moisture will come in especially the gaps between the wall and the mounting legs.

Is it necessary to remove packet of the silica?

Hey sorry for the late reply. I dont think its very necessary but i wanted it around the lense where the infrared was to inssure that i wont get any moisture. If you place the silica's well i think you should be fine. hope that helps have a good one!

I am being told to remove the original silicon bag as it is full of moisture.

@@trudywilson2603 Your comment is very interesting to me. I just installed 13 IP cameras for a client and when I turned the NVR all the cameras were looking nice and clear but after an hour or so it started to fog internally but I let it sit for a whole day. The next day all the cameras had condensation on them to the point where tiny drops of water formed. I was worried so I took one apart and found that there were 2 small packs of silica gel within the enclosure. These were high grade weather resistant cameras as shown in the packaging so them fogging up was a surprise. After the disassembly I wiped the water off the lens and put it back together. It looked fine at first but the same thing happened after an hour as it started to fog up. I never concluded that the silica gels were full of moisture as the cameras were brand new. I will go back and disassemble the cameras again this time changing out the silica gels with new ones or outright removing them.
