Hi, I’m Alex from Mexico City. Your backyard ho trains are very wondefull. Since soñé Years ago I want to do the same in My garden but with mexican routs but I have so many doubs about the wood at exterior. Can you Yelp me? Beat regards Alex

Hello Alex, You must use pressure treated wood. It can survive many elements such as rain, snow, heat, hail, fog, etc. I use PECO Code 100 Nickel Silver track it is rust proof. I don't use ballast, instead I use roofing paper and roofing adhesive. Ballast is not good outside too messy and breaks up easy due to weather.

What's the maintenance like?

When it is time to run I usually do all my cleaning the day before. Cleaning can be a full day or a couple of hours, just depends on the weather and time passed from the last run.
