Hi! Im about to do mine. Wondering how yours held up over the years? Any chips or cracking?

I think the best option is getting your eyes to be ok with sunfaded plastic because the utility of it doesnt seem to fade as fast as the color.

It’s done good. Has a few little scuffs on it, but has done well. I think it would need to be redone each year, but it’s inexpensive to do.

Can you do a before and after? I'm debating if I could just clean it or paint the free slide we got.

Well, ours held up descent. It was worth a try, but it started peeling as we used it. It was worth it still to try, but we ended up getting rid of the slide.

Ours was tough, but just keep pulling and using a bar to pry it open. But it could break if the plastic is dry rotted. But if that’s the case, I would imagine it wouldn’t be safe to be on anyway. Lol

Did the paint ever come off in the kids’ clothes?

It didn’t come off on their clothes, but the weather ended up getting it. Just sitting in the sun seemed to do the damage. Lol

How long did the paint last on it this the old colors came through?

As of now it’s still exactly like the day we painted it. So it’s holding up well. I would imagine at some point it will not, but let’s hope for a few years. Lol

It did really good covering up blemishes. I think if we had it to do over (which we will at some point), we probably would have sanded the surfaces down before painting. It’s beginning to peel. I’d still do it again, but maybe prep the surface better.

It doesn’t. However, ours ended up peeling a year later. We could have done it again, but chose not too. Maybe try sanding it and roughing it up before painting. That might help. It’s still worth doing, because it didn’t cost much.

How did you get the spray paint to stay and not chip?

It did well for a while, but the sitting in the sun started to take its toll. It’s chipping some now. Still glad we did it, but it’s not long term for sure. About a year I guess.

@@TheTrentTribe would a gloss top coat over the paint help reduce the chipping? did the paint ever rub off on clothes when going down the slide?

@@donnytello it ended up chipping after six months. Probably be best to sand it and then paint it or just get a new one. We’ve done some other plastics since and the less they are touched the better. Not so much for the slide though. Lol

Looks great for short term, but personally I would pass on painting outdoor plastic as it will start paint chipping fast. Don’t want young kiddos eating paint chips, getting in cloths/hair, ex.

I'm not sure spray paint paint chips. But there should be some primer used as well.

No latex and let it cure inside and should be good.
