Howdy Taku & Jocelyn, you made my day pointing out the black abalone...they were almost wiped out by the withering foot disease. In central California, they were more plentiful than the red abalone especially around the channel islands. For several years the abalone south of the golden gate aren't legal to harvest but, it's cool to see a very nice size black.

I live in Seattle Washington and I love these videos. It’s great to see so much healthy sea life. In the puget sound, the waters are so polluted that 250+ miles of coast are off limits for shellfish. I’d love to see a conservation video by you: How are the waters so healthy? What’s being done right and wrong? What animals are at risk and what we can do to help preserve the health of the ecosystem?

The chitons are EXCELLENT, so give them a try. We mostly have the smaller black-skinned/mantled chitons here in Homer, Alaska. Gumboots also occur in Alaska, but are generally much smaller than yours. I found this video about harvest and prep of our smaller chitons, but would apply to you. I like them poached in wine/water, then pickled in a vinaigrette for long-term keeping. Great in salads. Oh, you can make Jocelyn beautiful earrings/necklace out of the chiton "butterfly" bones.

you inspire me so much, I'll be moving to the coast soon, I've always considered myself a traveling cook, I move around and work in different areas of the culinary world, but I have never lived on the coast but you have inspired me so very much. And with the vast inventory of natural ingredients that are on the coast I might just stay there. So once again thank you!

Thank you for investing a little bit of money to produce your videos. So many times people put up videos but don't want to spend money in an external microphone. No matter how loud I turn up the volume on my laptop, the audio is almost inaudible and I lose interest. There is nothing wrong with my hearing but I appreciate that you put some effort in your videos. Thank you.
