The crossbow went together quickly and the general fit and finish is a bit above what I expected for the price. kzbin.infoUgkx5B43Qabqt1HedUJyfEqxiwBCfaooIH52 The adjustable stock is a little loose. I had an issue when I tried to cock the bow for the first time with the safety on. The string set in the trap box, held just enough to build up enough tension to rip the string out of my hands when it let go. No significant damage was done, and once I got it sighted in, I wrecked a couple bolts by sending one straight down the shaft of the first. I'm holding ~2" groups at around 50 yards, and I'm not an expert by any means. Best part is that they supply all the replacements parts you may ever need

Very informative. I bought an X-Force 350 yesterday as a starter bow to get going. The uncocking information is great stuff. This is the first year in ten that I have hunted. I was a bowhunting fanatic for years, but due to bad knees, elbows and shoulders, I had quit. I finally decided to gun hunt again this year and after checking out a number of crossbows and pulling one back, I decided that I would buy a crossbow and extend my season this winter. As a side note, I always shot my bow before I climbed down to insure that my equipment was operating correctly and that I hadn't knocked my sights off. In times when that is impractical, I had wondered how that I would let the string off of the crossbow. Thank you very much for sharing this.

Thanks for the demo, always good to share tips. I didn't like the rope cocker with my Barnett. Someone mentioned shortening the rope. That sounds like something to try. I always cocked by hand and had no issues. To uncock I used a bolt that had a blunt rubber end.

One thing I kind of did naturally with mine though is when I load my bolt, I hold it near the front just in case it fails and I’m not trying to get my fingers hit by that string by a bow with a 200 pound pull lol

I uncock the anti dry fire mechanism all the time. Do just like you did and the string will rest on the mechanism, then slightly pull up and flip the mechanism back and release just like you did. Pretty easy on a wicked ridge warrior.

Update on unloading Excalibur crossbows. They now offer an ad-on anti dry fire called the guardian. It has a button that you press to deactivate the anti dry fire that still allows for unloading the bow as you show in your video. I own the vortex model and adding the anti dry fire and unloading this bow is extremely simple.

Got a crossbow and spent a while trying to get the string on, afterwards I shot it maybe 5 times. My lower back was on fire for like 2 days from cocking the string. Watch your backs people. The one I had is 175 pound Jaguar and I would recommend some fingerless gloves until you get man-hands, but it takes a toll on your back if cocked incorrectly which I learned the hard way.

lol, Get a Rope Cocking Device, shorten the rope till the handles are all the down to the string. Put your foot in the stirrup, hold the handles, while bent over, STAND UP with your back staying straight, your arms will be fully extended, then pull with your arms, once your done pulling & the Crossbow is cocked your hands should be about at your waist. No Back Pain, No Back Problems, No Back Strain, Easy Peasy

Nice vid but not convinced about your flights. I shoot bows and the 2 flight of the same colour need to go against the bow, the reason being that the flights are not angled equally ie not 120 degs between each. The nock can be rotated accordingly. A flight would get knocked off against the bow if inserted differently. Sure it's the same with xbow arrows ?

I have found that if you put a bolt in the crossbow. Then you can turn the safety off and take the bolt out then do the Dcocking method. Note this is for if your bow has anti-dry fire system.

Does your hand cocking device work on a Horton Brotherhood crossbow?
@elgecske
@elgecske 10 жыл бұрын
what if one would engage the anti dry fire with a short dummy bolt, only a couple of inches long? Unload the actual bolt, load the crossbow with the dummy bolt and proceed with the uncocking with rope as usual- the dummy bolt should fall free as the retaining spring loses contact with it. This could be risky for inexperienced shooters as the could nail their to the ground with the dummy bolt. This dummy doesn't have to be fletched with vanes, it could be short rod or something.
