Kiara basically likes the aesthetic of being a pogue. Which I always found very disrespectful towards not just her parents but her friends. They don't have a back up plan, for them, the pogue life is actually their real life not just some play pretend. Because if everything goes to shit, she has a home, a family and lots lof money to return to. The others don't. Now, that's not her fault, but I'd just like her to acknowledge that the situation of her friends isn't very desirable, since they would give anything to actually have a home with parents in it that care about them, while she's just shitting on all of it. Because if you are deciding to shit on it then you can't just go back whenever it's convenient. If she hadn't done that all the time, it wouldn't even have pissed me off. my hypothesis is that in season 4 jiara will truly be a thing and jj will be at kiara’s house looking for something with kiara, while the parents still hate jj, and since kiara never said who she slept with, i think that her mother will say “so you slept with a boy like this” in an argument or something and that’s at the point that jj and kiara haven’t gone that far yet and jj just looks at kiara and walks out upset. kiara runs after him but he tells her not to bother, “i’m just a pogue, right?” he says “but i guess there’s other pogues you think of instead” he says holding back tears while kie starts crying in the rain. that’s just my idea 🤷‍♀️

*I loved this scene. Her mother was 100% right. Kie had everything and instead of being grateful she liked the idea of being a pogue but having the house and money to go back to. She always had a back up plan and family to support her. John B didn't and neither did JJ. Pope was lucky he had Hayward. If the kids looked at it from their parent's point of view, it looks so bad! They snuck around and lied and look what happened. Glad Kie got kicked out. She wanted to run her mouth but not back it up. Not everyone can yell in their parent's faces and walk away unscathed. After watching all of season one, and season 2 and re-watching certain episodes of season 2 multiple times, and seeing Kiara's parents getting a lot of hate from OBX fans, I have to say this, the hate is completely unjustified. When you compare Kiara to the other pouges, she has what they don't, a stable two parent home and financial stability. Kiara's parents have a stable job and finances that the other pogues don't have. Yet we see time and time again Kiara not appreciating this fact, while constantly living like a working class pouge using the excuse of how her dad was originally a pogue, despite not understanding what it's like to live as a pogue without the privilege of being able to step back into luxury and stability. Kiara's parents are the only ones who were concerned about her when she went missing for a night in Charleston, when you compare this to characters such as JJ and John B who don't have either parent around (John B in both season's and JJ in season 2) any parent would naturally worry about their teenage daughter not returning home for a night. Kiara is certainly taking this for granted especially when her two closest friends don't have the same parental care and she knows it. Kiara lived like a pouge until she needed money, a luxury JJ, John B, Pope and eventually Sarah don't have. She constantly disrespects her parents and goes against their (valid) wishes until she needs something, such as money. This shows how Kiara is not truly a pouge at heart, she is immensely privileged and only uses it when it suits her, effectively turning it on and off. When she asks her parents for money to hire a lawyer for John B, it's portrayed from Kiara's perspective to make them seem like bad people for not helping what the audience knows to be an innocent John B, but to Kiara's parents he is guilty of murdering a cop and they do not want to incriminate themselves or their daughter, or tarnish their reputation for potentially helping a cop killer, which is a justified response. I think Kiara is such a multi faceted complex character who in her teenage immaturity hasn't really grasped the full scale of how lucky she is in comparison to her friends. Madison Bailey does such a beautiful job of portraying Kiara. But I hope in season 3, the reality of Kiara's life in comparison to the other pouges is explored. While the Pouge's are at the heart of the story, it would add some serious realism if in some ways the pouge's were in conflict with each other, especially Kiara when the Pouge's realize she isn't in the same fight.
