Just came across the last part of this video where the hard plastic bounces around. There is a built in 'zipper garage' at the end of the zipper closure. It's a small pocket where you can push the zipper pull in. This will prevent the end from bouncing around.

I run the Outer Shell mini-handlebar bag and the Outer Shell rolltop saddlebag. I used the saddlebag at Cedar City BWR back in 2020, and it worked great....I was able to fit my tools and tubes, as well as my vest, arm warmers and neck gaiter after it warmed up. I like the mini-handlebar bag as I'm still able to use a front light, a Fenix BC26R or Fenix BC30 V2 w/ a Fenix GoPro mount and extension. It's almost right up against the bag with the light pushed forward on the extension, but it would be impossible to fit on a round burrito-style front bag. Plus, the quick release mount of the Fenix lights makes bag accessibility easy (when off the bike, of course). The mini-handlebar bag capacity is good to carry a power bank for the Garmin, spare Fenix batteries, phone, and a headlamp. I love the Outer Shell stuff, and will be adding the frame bag to my arsenal.

If I needed a(nother) half-frame bag, this is probably what I'd get. I've got the OuterShell Drawstring Handlebar Bag - it's pretty bomber.

I've had the large version of the half-frame bag for about a month now, and it's great. It's been tempting to fill it even though I don't need to for shorter rides, there's just so much more room and getting items out is much easier than a saddle bag. Even on my enormous XL frame, I felt I needed side load bottle cages even with a lower seat tube bottle cage.

I have an Outershell dropper seat bag. I don’t run a dropper post, but as a smaller rider (5’8”) it can be hard to run many bikePacking seat bags without them hitting the rear tire. This bag works great, is well built, and looks sweet. I also have one of their basket bags in marigold xpac that I run on my Rivendell with a front rack and Wald 137 basket. Another great bag, well designed, opens towards the rider, pretty easy to access while riding. I don’t see you ever running a basket on a bike, but I’d love to see you surprise us 😉

I would like to see a comparison of a full frame bag vs bottles and the half bag

Thanks! I have the Outer Shell front bag and I've been disappointed at how the edges of the top flap curl up over time. The top opens toward you and secures with shock cord around the stem. I have a light mount and Garmin mount on my bars and the flap has to tuck under them. An option I was considering was the bar extender, but that would not resolve the issue.

I’ve been putting my computer on my stem instead of out front. Then I put my light on my bar outside of where the flap goes. Not sure if that’s an option for you, but it works well for me.

@@emtee52 I have a weird cap design that can't accept the Garmin mount and don't have enough real estate on my 46cm bars. Really thinking of going to a 48cm or even 50cm bar. My mountain bike bars are 760mm and not a problem at all. Thanks!

I need to settle down and figure out my bike packing load out. I don't have anything big planned just little one day rides for weekends at some state parks to dial in, but I got nothing to dial in yet.

Seriously looking into getting one in a size small. Is there any chance you know how far back from the head tube the height is measured at? I'm trying to map out on cardboard where the lowest part of the bag will be and it's the only measurement I'm missing. Thanks!

Judging by the color you don't have the xtac material/coating for weatherproofing, have you had any issues with water?

Correct this is Córdura and I haven’t and any issues with water but I live in California so it hasn’t had exposure to any really

@LockedinCycling3 жыл бұрын
Never had any frame rub, the dimensions are listed on the sight but it didn’t really stick much farther out the. The width of my top tube when full

@@LockedinCycling im thinking small or medium(like yours) but i have tube 18.5in but 1.5in up front. If i take the small size i have space between the bag and the seat tube. hmmm decisions :)
