I never really noticed until now, but I find it funny that if you launch your scout into the eye of the universe before hoping in and losing it, it reappears in the final shot. Nice touch from the devs.

One other thing... When landing on the eye(from The Vessel) there is a green light orbiting the eyes. If you signalscope zoom in its the masking device made to hide the eye's song. Mobius devs went all out on continuity.

@@ilyashuster3447 There are two different reels related to that puzzle, the first one shows that dying in the range of the flame will let you enter the simulation, and the second one shows that if the bell rings while your real body is dead it will fail to wake you up (it's one of the "error logs" you find in the library).

I just compared the after credits scene of this one and the original base game one and there's some differences. The obvious inclusion of the prisoner type species, but more importantly, the planet in the 'bottom right' is either gone or hidden by the new land mass which bares resemblence to the interior of the stranger. Interesting.

The new end graphics were actually changed to their current state in a patch shortly before EotE released. They've always been inverted, though, it's just the foreground planet is more elaborate, and the scout (if you fired it) flies up closer to the camera since there were a lot of players not realizing that the thing flying by was their own scout.

That’s fair, actually. If anything, the Prisoner should be more insane than all the rest due to their solitude. I don’t think the rest are actually crazy. They just hunt you down to remove you from the simulation because they don’t want you freeing the prisoner (note that the ones in the second and third simulations only begin to hunt for you when you turn out the lights, which is the prerequisite to finding the forbidden archive and the information needed to open to vault.)

But could you truly do so? Escaping the Supernova upon the Stranger following the death of the universe means sunlight decays alongside it. However the Stranger was powered may end as we know it. The very biodome ship was falling apart with our arrival upon it. We saw in the Prisoner's shared memories is that the BIodome ship was decaying... everyone in their slumber died and decayed.. some even truly die with the extinguishment of their torches.. The final embers of their lives robbed by the very remains of their own home world. AS the ending implies as the sole survivor: Surely there must be something edible on that ship...?

I mean the Hearthian we play as has the emergency tree seeds, which seem to defy the basic rules of how plants function, whilst also providing oxygen and food. So in the first ending the Hearthian could technically survive until they die of natural causes. Who knows, maybe they could find the last still living Nomai, we know they're still out there.

Theoretically there could be some hanging out in the middle of empty space but they sent a message to every craft that they were gonna chill at a cluster of systems of something and have a huge death orgy or something. Not to mention floating through an empty void until you slowly die when your ship runs out of power doesnt seem like a way most would want to go. Also if you fly off into space and watch all the suns explode there is a cluster of bright stars that last longer than most. I enjoyed at least pretending its them as each exploded.

Chances are: The Prisoner breaks out of the simulation once you free him. He takes his staff, imparts his final memories to follow him into the afterlife and extinguishes his torch. Embracing true death after however long he's been trapped in that vault. His invitation is for you to accept (And to finish the story) as he knows you had to die to get to him. Together, you'll sail into the new dawn. And with it, you bring his memory into that new dawn. Where you can impart forgiveness of his people's fear and let him join the melody of the universe.

Kinda sad that disabling ATP doesn't give you unlimited time in the Stranger. That was one of my first thoughts in the DLC. Didn't try it though until I completed the DLC. Would have been a great achievement, finish the whole DLC in one "loop" 😆

I'm pretty sure the actual in-lore reason for that, is that your memories stop being recorded after 22 minutes. As that's all that can be sent back with the power of the supernova. So technically, you do have unlimited time, its just that the next loop, all your remember are those last 22 minutes.

@@cryptin1584 More specifically, you the player _are_ those memories, and not the Hearthian. The Hearthian continues to live in each loop if you escape the supernova, but with the ATP active you the player go to the next loop, as you are just their recorded memories through the ATP.

btw: if you run out of time in the virtual world but are alive in the real world, for some reason, the game doesn't give you either Sole Survivor ending, but rather, the Drift ending. I assume this is unintended and might be fixed in a future patch but this is what you get as is.

Hooold up. I must have been dumb. It didn't click that in this new world the solar systems are just hollow Planets but with a star at the centre. Can you imagine living on one of those, you fall once by the edge and into space you are flung. The canon ending made a terrifying world even more terrifying to live in. Also with the stranger species it seems all of them are hollow planets, not just a few (there were at least 2 regular planets in the original ending)

You need to discover ways to break code and enter new realms to put a stop to a virus that erases the code in an infinite loop. Lol I don't know, they can come up with something, doesn't necessarily need to involve space travel. But I really would love another knowledge based loop puzzle/exploration game of some type.

I dont really get the prisoner letting out the signal part. Feel like it makes perfect sense that the Nomai could have detected the same signal as the Owl people just that they were lightyears away and so it took a long time to get there? EDIT: Nevermind the nomai teleported to the solar system when they got the signal, guess that potentially means the nomai got there while the owl peoples bodies were alive

Strangers get the signal -> they go there -> realize what the Eye is capable of -> get scared and trap it -> one of them lets the signal out briefly -> they Nomai get the signal in that short amount of time, and warp there before it fades out.

I think it means the new universe is influenced by the memory of the conscious observer that entered the eye of the universe and created it (my understanding of the creation of the new universe is that the eye of the universe, as a macro quantum superposition state, is collapsed into a reality)

@@PatchyE the eye, as a pseudo entity, calculates all of the iterations of the next universe but it needs an outside observer to not only create the next song, but also to solidify the fateful iteration(predestination paradox) that will lead to the eye making the calculations and needing an observer for the next, next eventual universe billions or trillions of years later. As observers... We allow the eye to continue living. One universe to the next. Should that ever end whatever kind of entity the Eye is would truly "die."

As long as you enter from a fire that doesn't get extinguished. So the one in the prisoner's cell or the one at the hidden gorge nothing is able to eject you from the simulation. The other two fires get extinguished, one when the dam breaks and the other during the supernova.

Nothing interesting. If you had used datamined codes to cross the bridge that normally has you dying on the fire it'll allow you to see the prisoner's corpse. But beyond that there's no ending change or bonus screens.

It's not clearly explained other than a table in the room above the dam. When the sun begins to expand about 5 minutes in the ship automatically opens it's solar sails and moves out of range of the supernova.

The Stranger is designed to escape the supernova's range. It's inhabitants designed every aspect of the Strange to keep their simulation for as long as possible

One thing I don't quite get. If you die to get into the simulation, and then die IN the simulation, you're dead. Like actually dead. The loop restarts. But the second ending of this video implies that you'll be trapped there, unable to "wake up" via dying. How does that work?

I don't think it means literally unable to wake up. Rather they have no choice but to continue in the simulation as they have no living body to return to outside it.

I find it a little bit sad that the Owls hunt you. Not very logicall I think. They’re trapped in their simulation forever, now they have someone new to exchange with as they seem so curious, but no they prefer chase him. No logic except gameplay feature. But amazing game nonetheless !

Maybe I am dumb, but can someone explain this to me? So whenever you die the loop resets. But to finish this dlc, you have to die in the real world to fully be in the simulation. I understand how this doesn't reset the loop because your brain is uploaded to the simulation, but then when you finish up in the simulation and die again, resetting the loop, wouldn't this mean that the Prisoner is still imprisoned? Because the loop started over?

Yes. The true ending to outer wilds doesn't rely on anyone physically being present. The prisoner, solanum, and the rest of the travelers only appear because the MC chooses to remember them while in the eye. In reality they all died in the supernova, or in the prisoners case is still trapped in the simulation until the stranger runs out of power.
